Crow - 03-09-2013 I saw that Commish was playing Tropico 4 this morning. There are alternatives to simcity.  Re: SimCity - Versus - 03-09-2013 (03-09-2013, 01:38 PM)Kor link Wrote:
Watch the video nerd
slammed
Re: SimCity - backfire - 03-10-2013 Looks fun. Can't wait to play it. Re: SimCity - Maxon - 03-10-2013 Was finally able to play it solidly for a few hours with friends which is fun and I'm sure to get plenty of hours out of the game, but...I think I'm absolutely gonna grab SimCity 2000 off GOG today. For when the servers inevitably screw up, I'll hop onto a SimCity that actually works right lol Re: SimCity - KorJax - 03-10-2013 Seriously though the game is awesome, but they really need to deliver on the potential of it in the future (i.e. bigger cities or at least a way to hook up regional cities as if they were one and have it actually look like one big city). The secret to having fun with the game is to never ever join a server that is lower than the number 3 or 4. Because the launch servers all super fucking suck still, but all the new servers run flawlessly. Re: SimCity - Maxon - 03-10-2013 With the base they have now, if they could just allow for bigger and expanded cities and an offline mode, I'd be pretty happy with the current iteration of the series. I am still enjoying it alot though. Also I see SimCity 2000 on Top Seller list for GOG. For 6 bucks, I just might have to grab it for offline play lol Re: SimCity - Versus - 03-10-2013 yeah US east 4 is just fine for me Re: SimCity - A. Crow - 03-10-2013 I played the hell out of simcity 2000. bought of GOG it doesn't activate off steam, does it?
I would argue that 4 is better than 2000 anyway. It has regional gameplay as well, however I think regional cities have less of an effect on each other than with the new game. Also, mods. Re: SimCity - Versus - 03-11-2013 i don't remember the regional gameplay in 4 being anything other than like being able to buy spare water and power Re: SimCity - Evil Cheese - 03-11-2013 You can exchange resources like water and electricity between cities in the same region. I also think citizens will travel between cities in the same region that are connected via some sort of transportation. This opens up options to have specialized cities that have specific roles in the larger region. So you could have a big industrial city with all the workers living in a different city. These are ideas they are really trying to promote in the new game, but are there in a rough form in 4. There are also mods that enhance agriculture and industry so that you can diversify even more.
