Video card help/advice, Please - Reevesith - 05-04-2016 Looking to get a video card $100-200 -ish price range. Processor: Intel core i5-4460 cpu@ 3.20h 12 GB ram 64-bit os windows 8.1 Was looking at Radeon R9 270 2GB or EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti because they showed up in searches for video cards that work with i5-4460, but in the end I just don't know. Humbly ask the pc sages of Brbu for any help on the matter. Also I feel crummy I haven't been on here for so long. RE: Video card help/advice, Please - HeK - 05-05-2016 Avoid ATI. Get the newest nVidia that fits into your price range. A GTX 960 should fit into your budget. MicroCenter is also blowing out some referb GTX 770s for $180 that don't look too bad. RE: Video card help/advice, Please - FlyingMongoose - 05-05-2016 Honestly I agree (for once) the R7-R9 series really aren't much better than the previos 7k series. And while price for power is better with AMD, the power CONSUMPTION is not if you're as heavy a gamer as the rest of us. Even if you spend a little more money on Nvidia you'll save some in power consumption (for most it's negligible though) RE: Video card help/advice, Please - Reevesith - 05-06-2016 Thank you guy for your information, I think I will go with the GTX 770s. Also brought the power issue to my attention. It's 300 watts, hoping my old pc's power supply is better due to replaced it with a new one at one point. Thank you again for the help! RE: Video card help/advice, Please - HeK - 05-06-2016 Oh, yeah, I completely forgot about PSU requirements. The GTX 770 is a bit of a beast and nVidia recommends a minimum 600W system power supply with one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector. The GTX 960 is require a minimum 400W PSU with only a 6-pin connector. |
