moar random less stax plox - Chief - 11-03-2008
Seriously. It's not fun getting rolled, especially when the team knows everyone joined that certain team because they were winning.
IDEA: Obviously, it's quite hard trying to get people to choose random, but here's my thought. You know how at the beginning of the map, there's the little 30 second period called "Waiting for Players"? Increase that to one minute to allow players to get in, and then randomize the teams. You guys say votescramble resets the time limit? I'm sure 31 minutes isn't much of a difference if you enable the effect after the "Waiting for Players" section.
CONS: Some players might figure a way out of this by waiting until the "Waiting for Players" section is over.
- - - - - Players are able to switch after, but it won't make a huge difference. This isn't exactly a con, but rather a mention.
Let's try and #2 one day and see how it works out please. This is really bugging me when I go to spectator and see everyone "joining team BLU" or "joining team RED" after other people are randoming to the other team.

Srsly, needs to be an option to just shuffle teams when shit is just getting rolled. I always hit random and hate when it's like, me and a bunch of scrubs VS the rest of brbu.

I have seen servers with a "!votescramble" command or something like that
similar to rtv, it just scrambles the teams instead of switching the map.

Teamscrambling is built into TF2, but usually what it ends up doing is restarting the map, and that's just laym.
Also, dunno how it has been lately, but if someone complains there's usually a few offers from the winning team to switch places. Furthermore, I've been the guy that offered to switch and plenty of times, people will complain but no one will actually switch from the losing team to the winning team to balance it out. Soooo, if you're one of those guys who complains about stacking but then doesn't try to fix it, stop complaining. :-[

A lot of it is just whining from the losing team, even after the teams were organized by auto for the most part. Hell, I see a lot of people stack sometimes and then end up losing, only to complain about the other team stacking.
Protip, just because the other team has good players does not mean they stacked. If that's the way it rolls, it's going to happen regardless of a forced team plugin or not. Also, forced teams are stupid and will keep a lot of people who aren't brbu from coming back. I personally auto 9 times out of 10, but forced random is stupid because sometimes people want to join a certain team and you're killing fun for them by forcing it. I specifically join to play with someone like Forte or Radio sometimes when they ask me, stuff like that.

A vote scramble is fine if there's an admin about to drop the map time left back down.
I have suggested an auto-random at the team selection screen many times over the last year but it's never been met with much enthusiasm.

I agree with vote scramble over forced random team... I do think that it doesnt always have to with who is on a team.. sometimes random teams just roll... but I do have a problem with getting rolled (and rolling) more than 2times in a row... If my team roll's another hard 2+ times i'm one of the first to RTV. it's not getting me anything and its only making the other team want to quit. So I think a vote scramble would be good, if people want to stay on the map.

idk, I guess I just don't see the point of scramble when rtv does the same thing. unless you're talking about rtv-ing to dustbowl/warpath/goldrush/badwater. hate those maps. :-X

I can't believe more people don't think this way. Getting rolled can be kinda shitty but at least it gives you a challenge, continually rolling the opposite team is just plain boring.

Honestly these days I'm becoming less and less likely to switch if my team is rolling. The reason isn't so much good players on the winning team its complete retards on the other team. It leads to nothing but frustration for me to switch. Someone sniping right outside of the point that is currently being capped? No thanks I don't want to be on that retard's team.
But I do always hit random at the start unless I really hate a certain side of that map.

not pointing fingers here but it seems whenever radio joins a server all his lil gang join that team, then none of them move, i wont name names but im close to kicking certain people who ive SEEN go into spec, chat, then wait for a spot to open, ive kicked for this before and i will again.

There's also one that allows you to forcefully swap certain players, which can be helpful in some situations.
