Rotation Proposal - CaffeinePowered - 04-27-2008

Wanted to start a new clean thread for a proposed rotation now that we got a chance to play Aqua and Studio on Friday

I don't think a hurt/heal thing would work here, but if there are any maps you absolutely do NOT want (or really want) to see voice your opinion here

cp_science2
ctf_chaos
cp_castle3
ctf_well2
cp_labor
tc_hydro
cp_warpath2
ctf_impact2
cp_dustbowl
ctf_turbine_v3


Excluded Maps:
ctf_2fort - Overplayed, so sick of seeing this come up
es_cave7 - too small, cluster fuck, impossible for attackers to win
cp_well - old and overplayed, ctf_well2 is better anyway
cp_warpath - Warpath2 is superior

I would actually like to see Aqua put into the mix. And ya, after Warpath 2, let's never go back to Warpath1. Ladders <3

I like 2fort once in a while but it's quite overplayed... Still I think it should be in the normal rotation if only for seeding purposes.

I say the same thing evey time this come up and I realise I'm in the minority based on the reponses I get but I honestly feel the stock maps are of a higher quality than any of the customs I've seen. Also, as much as everyone bitches about it, I still love 2fort.

Aqua was fun but it's definitely a novelty map.

I'll heartily second the vote for Badlands.

Had to fix one more mistake, had warpath and warpath2 on there.

To be honest Budr, I think that some of the customs have a higher level of quality than any of the valve maps Wink

Badlands isn't horrible, its not as bad of a steamroll as granary, but I absolutely hate the design of the second cap thats on the rock spire and the final cap goes WAY too fast. If enough people ask for it I'll toss it in.

2fort....been playing that since TFC 1.0, its been around since Quake II TF. Just been playing it so freaking long, I dont think people will miss it. People can always rtv to it if they want to play it, and Im sure people will use it often for seeding purposes.

I really want Science2 in the rotation.  As much as everyone seems to hate it and get confused by it (how?) I think its a great, fast paced map.  The mayhem that ensues on the first point is great and just the rest of the time trying to capture/recapture other points just adds to the fun.

What about Starship though?  Haven't played it in a long time and think it would also be a good edition to the rotation.

I think 2fort suffered because it seemed like it was top on the rotation list. Every time the server restarted, we were either stuck on 2fort or would muck about for 10 mins till we had enough to rtv.  Not a fault of the map, any map you put in the top spot will suffer like that.  But mach 4 replaces it nicely

That said, I think warpath2 should be higher on the rotation list. It's definitely the signature map of this server.

I don't mind granary once in a while.  I thought badlands was weak. one of the orange maps could go on the rotation, the most even-playing one that was laid out like a cross (not the circle tower in the middle).

2fort has been around since the TF mod of the original Quake...

I'm wondering if Valve's goldrush will be less cramped than the user made map...

I don't really care for castle, always thought it was a stupid gimmick map, and pretty low quality.

Oh and I'm fine with 2fort being out.  Impact, Chaos, and Mach 4 are all better CTF maps.

Is anyone familiar with snofort?  It's CTF with snow and two cabins and a tunnel... and trees...

I had fun on it, but I've never seen it around here.  If I find it and post a link, could we trial it?

Thats actually built into TF2, 2fort is the map the server defaults to when it reboots or crashes, even if I took it off the rotation and such the server would always default to it if there is an error.
