Kritskreig - Not just Situational Anymore - CaffeinePowered - 11-11-2009

Over the past few weeks Ive grown to love the krits more so than the regular uber, so I thought I'd make a mini-write-up on some of the things I've discovered over the course of its use.

Previous Conceptions - The Kritskreig is a situational weapon best reserved for defense on dustbowl like maps and basically little else
What I've found Out - Its just as useful if not more useful than a regular uber

Recent Buffs
Taunt restores HP - Has saved me from fire a few times
Reaches Charge 20% faster

Who to charge?
- Much like the uber you want to pocket the best person on your team, with a few caveats
- Go for demos first, followed by heavies, then soldiers
- Most people think crit rockets are the best, but a demo gets 12 shots between the stickies and pipes (and yes, you can empty both clips in 1 kritz) where as the solider can get off 6 rockets at most, also pipes do more damage than rockets
- Heavy is also good because there is no damage degradation on crits, you have the most health, and nothing can get reflected

When to use it?
- Good medics won't wait for someone to tell them to fire a charge, they just do
- Start before someone goes around a corner, if possible make sure they are at full health/ammo

Why use it in the first place?
- Crit stickies/rockets can kill the engineer behind a gun, as long as you dont charge the gun but pop around corners, you will kill it just as well
- You actually kill people, unless you pop an uber right in someone's face, they will usually run away, Id rather kill 2 people and not entirely clear an area than pop an uber and watch them all run
- Enemies don't recognize it - the lightning is much harder to notice in the thick of things than a bright red/blue glow
- Kill juggling pyros fast

What not to do....
- Charge Sentry Guns
- Charge good airblast pyros
- Charge over open spaces where snipers are watching

I just wanted to make a quick write-up since peaches thought he would call me a noob for using it now more often than the regular uber.

I'll add some more insightful stuff once I get back from work...or if Im bored at work before I leave tomorrow....

You also need to remember that you're not invincible, which most players seem to forget...

Re: Kritskreig - Not just Situational Anymore - Moosendoo - 11-11-2009

I've always found the kritzkrieg to be very useful and sometimes fun, but I typically stick with the uber since I can always save myself/patient in times of emergencies.

I should really copy-pasta my old articles and update them here for a general guide....

I hate your anti-juggle/skeet-shooting pyro scenario.  Sad

Pyro's, of course, are also good to uber. Kritz or regular.

Yeah, I love my kritzkreig now. Faster charge and does more damage.

Also, as people earlier today witnessed, it's surprising effective on snipers ;D

Krits is only good on a pyro who's good at reflecting projectiles

The part with the sentry gun and the heavy is a good example.

You know it's a good day when you're spawn camping the other team with a sniper/medic combo kukri'ing and no-scoping everyone.

He's good at capturing it on video. The pub he plays on is really shitty so he gets in these situations pretty often.

Re: Kritskreig - Not just Situational Anymore - [fr31ns]Karrde - 11-12-2009

Still better on defense, but I have been on a few runs of "holy shit, we just completely cleared the point of 5 people with one rocket."  And demos/heavies are probably the best bang for your buck.  Range depending on the hevay, though you can do some good damage with crit heavy sniping.  Oh and yes, kritzing a medic is also a death machine if they can aim.
