Halp - Benito Mussolini - 11-25-2009 So... If someone has read my last 2 posts in this section of the forums, he'd know that I've been getting some problems with L4D2 lately. Here I go: Since it came out, I've been able to play, alright, but I've been getting crashed to desktop (CTD) problems. Of course, that was keeping me from enjoying the game, since I couldn't get anythig ever done, as I would get dropped every 2 stages or so. I wanted to fix this, obviously. I fell on this weird website: Steam Forums. First try: I add -lv (low violence). Doesn't work. Second try: I follow the **, since there is that Quote:USE ** FIXES FIRST:message. The very first one: Quote:CTD: (ALL) So I do so. I quickly delete the two files, "reinstall" L4D2. Now I couldn't wait to play with people without crashing. So I launch L4D2, I get a loading screen (-novid, so no valve on stupid forehead nor same damn L4D2 trailer with choppers made out of chocolate) Loading... Then I get that Error sound Windows plays when it fails it fails a lot it fails admirably, even for Windows (I'm using XP), a CTD without getting to see the menu, and no error message. I then tried doing that one thing that has 2 green asterisks besides it, that I would assume would be TOTALLY SAFE, three times with the same results. Hell I even reinstalled the whole game and it doesn't work. So... halp P.S. I have this somewhat of a memory problem, and I have a vague souvenir of having this same problem the first time I tried the game, but I seriously can't remember if I really did, nor what I would have done to fix it... P.P.S If you need system infos, just ask, but since I've been able to play (without lag or whatsoever), I doubt that my problem is linked to my specs. Oh, and video driver is up to date. Edited to but in bold what was the most important in there. Re: Halp - Negate - 11-25-2009 what OS are you running? Said repair was successful, but nothing changed. I update it since then, I doubt that such a small update would change anything. (11-26-2009, 05:42 PM)zaneyard link Wrote: did you just try flat out reinstalling the game?I sure did, cutie. |
