Re: Getting more FPS out of TF2 - [fr31ns]Karrde - 01-03-2010

Gamebooster seems to make a much larger diff for me.  Guess I'll use it.

Re: Getting more FPS out of TF2 - FaceDragon - 01-03-2010

My solution from experience: Just don't use Vista.

But really. Gamebooster seems interesting.

Vista works just fine.  Unless you're rolling with less than 3 gigs of ram.

8 gigs, originally was going to be a server. Still, compared to both XP and Windows 7, Vista still runs a little too heavy and does tend to drain some performance from the overall. Just general bulkyness, nothing really major, was just poking fun at it really.

Re: Getting more FPS out of TF2 - Chief - 01-03-2010

It's funny - I always turn GameBooster on when my computer starts up. I just find it faster for everything and it shuts down everything that I'm too lazy to shut off myself.

Re: Getting more FPS out of TF2 - Surfur - 01-04-2010

Once i restart my PC I'll give it a go, but I've always found that if you're running a sub par system you can always use this command

Mat_dxlevel 81

It sets the Direct-X level down to 8.1, giving it a few less eye candies which you would hardly notice but happily improving on the FPS

<3 Windows 7

Normally rolling with like ~450mb used, hardly more than my stripped XP install used.
