Let's talk skins. - BHHammy - 11-12-2010 So who here skins their TF2? I know that the explosion of the Mann. Co update and paint buckets makes it a trifle more pointless than it was before, but I still like doing it every once in a while. These days I keep more the the default skins for the previously-mentioned reason (plus, I hate my weapons disappearing), but every now and then I'll see one that I like and slap it in for a few weeks or so. Example: I just saw this one yesterday for the L'etranger, I Honestly dislike the L'etranger's original design, so I thought this was a welcome change. http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/104242 I'll probably use this for a little while. What about you guys? What skins do you guys use (if any)? Any in particular that you like? Re: Let's talk skins. - Chief - 11-12-2010 i use none because i usually go on no-skin servers since there's wallhack skins and stuff like that oh well Re: Let's talk skins. - CaffeinePowered - 11-12-2010 (11-12-2010, 03:53 PM)TheDarkChief link Wrote: i use none because i usually go on no-skin servers since there's wallhack skins and stuff like that Anyone know if they ever fixed this in a patch? :'( Re: Let's talk skins. - BHHammy - 11-12-2010 Quote: Merc link=topic=5159.msg183459#msg183459 date=1289578614] I have a couple for the spy: http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/85038 The Ambassador I thought was pretty gaudy, so I have a skin that turns it into a more common looking magnum revolver. Re: Let's talk skins. - BHHammy - 11-12-2010 Also, THIS skin is just wonderful. http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/104008 Freaking 50's Vacuum Cleaner Flamethrower, fueled by BONK and Bourbon. (Class shots replaced with animu crap, also Red blocks it anyways so...) Re: Let's talk skins. - Live-Free-Or-Pie - 11-14-2010 (I use Povohat's HUD and I changed the pop-up damage text to bright yellow so I can actually read it) Re: Let's talk skins. - [SiN] Merc - 11-18-2010 (11-12-2010, 06:06 PM)BHHammy link Wrote: [quote author=[SiN] Merc link=topic=5159.msg183459#msg183459 date=1289578614] I have a couple for the spy: http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/85038 The Ambassador I thought was pretty gaudy, so I have a skin that turns it into a more common looking magnum revolver. Do they act up on sv_pure servers, though? Also, I REALLY wish Valve would add an option for you to check whether a server has it or not, without having to boot up the server and load your character models first. Unless there is one, and I've got a case of THE DUMB. Re: Let's talk skins. - CaffeinePowered - 11-18-2010 I believe right now on Red the only thing not allow is a custom player-model skin, wepaons and sounds should work, if this is not the case please let me know so i can fix it. This stems from a long undetectable hack there you could set the models to be a certain hue or red/blue and they could show up through walls, you can look up videos of this on youtube, they're pretty ridiculous. To my knowledge this has not been fixed, but if it was I'd turn pure off. The below is based entirely on the skin and not a true "wall hack" Best undetected wallhack in TF2 Re: Let's talk skins. - Dtrain323i - 11-18-2010 (11-18-2010, 09:44 AM)Caffeine link Wrote: I believe right now on Red the only thing not allow is a custom player-model skin, wepaons and sounds should work, if this is not the case please let me know so i can fix it. wow, even while cheating that guy sucks. Oh, and the minigun/natascha noises. I don't host files often, so let me know if I derped the link up, or if you don't know where to put the files if you're wanting to use them. Man, that sucks. It's always a downer when creative skins and the like have to be disabled because of one jackass making things like that. It's as bad as people who change the spies decloak noise to ear raping decibels. Re: Let's talk skins. - BHHammy - 11-18-2010 AUGH, THE GODDAMNED ROBOT UNICORN SONG. Seriously, WHY does everyone like that song so much? It's so...ugh. Anyway, everything else seems good, though I think I'm still gonna go with this for my ubercharge theme~ [flash=200,200]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5W2uL5OR5g[/flash] WHY? Because Bang Shishigami is the one person who's just as much DAN as Dan Hibiki is. So what do I do with these? Re: Let's talk skins. - [SiN] Merc - 11-18-2010 (11-18-2010, 04:46 PM)BHHammy link Wrote: AUGH, THE GODDAMNED ROBOT UNICORN SONG. Oh, I wasn't sure if you knew who bang was. I made a version better and louder than that one. Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?vrclym8ac8fouoa And as for using them, it's pretty easy, just drag and drop them into the following folders: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yournamehere\team fortress 2\tf\sound\player That's where you put crit noises, and your uber music. Keep in mind that in order for the uber sound to play, you gotta name it invulnerable_on.wav, I just kept the others with their names different so I could easily change them when I wanted to. C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yournamehere\team fortress 2\tf\sound\weapons That's the folder you wanna dump the minigun and natascha noises in if you're wanting them. They're named correctly right off the bat, so you shouldn't need to mess with them. Now hit noises are a bit more complicated, nothing major mind you, just if you're wanting multiple ones, you gotta do some legwork. C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\cloudalucard\team fortress 2\tf\sound\ui first of all, you need a base hit noise. Put a file you like there, and name it ding_a_ling.wav That will be your hit noise for every class. Now if you're wanting multiple, you need to go to their config file, which is at the following: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yournamehere\team fortress 2\tf\cfg And for every class you want a different hit noise for, you need to put this in their config file. My example here will be for Solider: simply put this in the cfg file: tf_dingaling_wav_override "\soliderding.wav" And of course you can name it whatever, soliderding just reminds me what I have his set on and what have you. Last step: Put the sound file you want to use for him in the sound folder located at: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yournamehere\team fortress 2\tf\sound If you run into any problems, give me a shout. Also: Nice Kyle Hyde Avatar. Re: Let's talk skins. - BHHammy - 11-19-2010 Decided against the custom hit noises, but used everything else. Not sure who Kyle Hyde is, sorry. I picked this .gif up......somewhere, like 2 or 3 years ago, never knew what it was from, but I always thought it was wonderful. Decided, since I was actually posting on a FORUM again, I'd go through my ooooold creaky photobucket account and try to see what all i could dredge up from back in the day when I used to be active on a different one. For example: This will be the extent of the images I post in posts here, for now, however, as they do not pertain to the subject at hand.
