If you don't hit "login" for your minecraft client, when you try to connect your username is the generic "Player". that username is banned from the minecraft server. So if you see that you are banned, you probably aren't banned, just don't have a proper username yet. Wait for minecraft.net to be online long enough for you to hit "Login" instead of "work offline"
