Video Testing - Eightball - 02-18-2011 So it seems like I'm being defaulted to the position of guy-who-makes-videos so I'm going to post some of my progress here as I experiment with all the different software that has suddenly been forced upon me. Also, I think you guys would want to see the progress: Test 1 Recorded at 30fps, using the Targa + VirtualDub method, no PLDX effects applied, sound spliced and combined in Audacity, "maximum render quality" enabled and no gaussian blur applied. I'll try again later tonight with another clip at 60fps with a little more applied. Does anyone else think it looks crappy at the moment? EDIT: Also, I dig how fast Youtube is getting at processing video. Re: Video Testing - CaffeinePowered - 02-18-2011 ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *deep breath* ahahahahahahahahahahahaha Sorry, I have no advice for how to construct videos Re: Video Testing - Eightball - 02-18-2011 I tried to upload the raw .avi that virtualdub exported, which looks much crisper and is actually in 16:9, but YouTube just "failed to convert" the damn thing. I don't know; I'll keep futzing around with it. EDIT: Yeah, there's something wrong with the encoding. Cyberlink also produces similarly shitty quality video. Re: Video Testing - Versus - 02-18-2011 fraps, windowed, 1280x720 done Re: Video Testing - KarthXLR - 02-19-2011 I might start trying to make videos as well, maybe not about tf2 though. What do you video makers use to rip the footage from games? Fraps? The standard fare for most TF2 video-makers is to use the PLDX recording tool (which helps remove shit like in-game VOIP and HUD icons, as well as adding other effects at your discretion), to capture a demo as a series of targas, then use virtualdub to compile them into an .avi plus an extra audio track. Then use whatever audio and video editing software you please. I don't know; I'll keep futzing around with it. I've got experience with VD and FRAPS, can you give me a bullet list of the steps you're using to encode with VD? In particular I'm interested in the codec you're choosing and what settings you're using for said codec. Also; http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite-Codec-Pack-Full/1094057842/3 and http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite-Codec-Pack-64bit/1094057842/5 = yes Re: Video Testing - Eightball - 02-22-2011 I was using Lagarith lossless codec for the VirtualDub'ing. I just ditched Premiere for AfterEffects--me gusta Test03.avi We know that 720p works. I'll spend a few weeks teaching myself how to use after effects better and hopefully we can make something watchable. They pertain to real-life video effects, but the skills are transferable. http://www.youtube.com/user/freddiew2 Re: Video Testing - Eightball - 03-01-2011 omg Pldx can view a lot of my obsolete demos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmnNJKrO92U Re: Video Testing - Moosendoo - 03-02-2011 Reaching for that last "well don't that beat all" threw me off balance and I overcompensated. :'( Re: Video Testing - PyroZombie - 03-03-2011 I like that "Attaboy" at the end. |
