FNF 5/20 - The end of the world (as we know it) [UPDATED WITH MAPS] - TOH - 05-19-2011

Well, here we are. Rapture begins the day after FNF, so we better enjoy our TF2 while it lasts! This week's FNF based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and Chronomaster and I will be taking the reins (GET IT? TOH HO HO!) with lots of the crew at ACEN. So without further ado...

THE LAST FNF BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE END!

As it is said in the book of Revelation...

I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

First map, representing Conquest, dom_canalzone: http://www.gamebanana.com/maps/download/107047

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

Or instead of large swords, how about large saws? ...on trains? ...on a windmill? Second map, representing War, is koth_windmilltrainsaw: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=13455
We're considering having friendly fire on for this one, if possible.

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

Third map represents the plight of Famine. You will be in the dry lands of koth_dryway: http://www.gamebanana.com/maps/146698
But beware, there are no medics or engies allowed! We can't afford to use medicine and metal so carelessly!

When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The final horseman is Death...and we'll have lots of it in ctf_hallofdeath: http://www.gamebanana.com/maps/38584
And in order to facilitate death, we're looking to go instant respawn.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.

BONUS MAP! If we're lucky enough to survive the horsemen (and the ragequitting), you will be clothed in white robes and forced to fight to rack up the number of souls on a MYSTERY MAP!
The map will be MEDICS ONLY and we'll only allow the standard medigun, kritzkrieg, and melee weapons! No needle guns or crossbows! Ubersaw chaining is encouraged!

A lot of this is tentative, as we need to get the maps on the server (if anyone sees this and can get the maps in there, it'd be appreciated, otherwise I'll bug Kirby with a PM!). But if things work out, we hope this will be awesome.

Well, fine then.

By coming soon, I mean later tonight. At work right now.

Re: FNF 5/20 - The end of the world (as we know it) - chronomaster - 05-19-2011

Somehow, we're playing CTF_Chaos on Friday.

I'm thinking our map order will be:

Conquest - CTF
War - KOTH
Famine - Some map with very little supplies
Death - Some map with cheesy and constant deaths. I will have the respawn rate lowered if we can find a particularly gruesome map. The more death, the better!

I'll be around unless my comp decides to crash continually out of tf2. Hopefully the update fixed that.

I've got a couple of suggestions.

Famine: warpath w/ or w/o RPS
Death: definitely windmilltrainsaw

These have been noted. Especially the windmill-o-trainsaws, for I have yet to play that still. Rapture's going to warp everyone's minds, man.

Boring. Warpath has been played to death, with RPS. Plus. it doesn't fit the Famine theme (there's plenty of half-kits along the main route).

Gamer, I've been toying with the notion of increased crits, but I'm not sure how possible it is (since I don't know if a var controls it). I also wanted to do Famine with any map, but stripped of all ammo and health. Since the crew is out on ACEN, we're kind of limited with what we can do in augmenting the rules.

Pity. This week turned up a good theme to toy with.

Yeah, it was just the only map I could think of that's pretty scarce in terms of health/ammo density. Another idea I had was that for whatever map you play on you could disallow medics and engies.

Yeah I'm down with that. Medics would probably kill the whole 'famine' vibe

Re: FNF 5/20 - The end of the world (as we know it) - chronomaster - 05-19-2011

War is looking like Windmilltrainsaw... With Friendly Fire.
Death will be Hallofdeath Instaspawn.

We're still working on Conquest and Famine. Sourcemod didn't have any peer-approved plugins that did what I wanted for Famine, so we're looking into an alternative.

War or Conquest should be Warpath.

We could do that.

If we wanted to be predictable.

Hilarious post. Also, I feel my animated gif signature finally fits in now. After 2 years. about time.

Nobody ever talks about the fifth horseman.

I haven't seen windmill train saw in soooo long

Re: FNF 5/20 - The end of the world (as we know it) [UPDATED WITH MAPS] - Kirby - 05-20-2011

btw yes we can adjust crit chances. Most of the plugins that 100% crit servers use allow for custom crit % chance, I could easily throw a crit plugin up and modify the crit chance on the fly.
