The deadringer. - AMCZombine - 06-21-2011 I don't use it as a main watch, but people who whine about it seem less than bright. I don't have any disrespect for anyone who uses it mainly, but don't like its style, which I feel is a bit limiting. If you guys have a problem with it, what is your guys problem? Re: The deadringer. - backfire - 06-21-2011 Like I said, just cut the invulnerability time in half so dead ringing just doesn't waste everyone's time and I'm perfectly fine with it. Now who's up for a horse barbecue? Valve has made it clear that they hate the other watches with a passion and that playing Spy should involve no amount of stealth or subtlety. Re: The deadringer. - copulatingduck - 06-21-2011 so im pretty convinced with this troll thread that this guy is Pyrozombie. Re: The deadringer. - LV15GAMER - 06-21-2011 I for one have no trouble getting dead while using the dead ringer :< I just do better with the normal watch. Re: The deadringer. - Eightball - 06-21-2011 Ugh, I can't use it, but the updates have made it less ridiculous. It's definitely sad that a class that encourages cunning, stealth, misdirection and subterfuge can be played as relying on 1-hit kills and near-invincibility but the problem almost certainly stems from trying to implement such a class in a gameplay environment where people will learn to handle its tricks. Re: The deadringer. - AMCZombine - 06-21-2011 But of course that's all fine. My problem with all this complaining about the DR is, every other thing in the game is balanced against it. So general consensus is spys shouldn't use it, but its totally fine to use these. It's an incredibly one sided and uninformed opinion to allow a class to one shot its counter, remove its primary advantage, and if he tries to fight back by using something that doesn't allow him to be one shot, hes weak. IE snipers shouldn't outDPS a spy in close range. The SMG has a far lower DPS than the revolver for a reason. Imagine the people who hated the DR got what you wanted and there was no damage reduction. Suddenly there is absolutely no reason to use it, it gets triggered and you just broadcast to the area where you are cloaked, and with all of the above, that's not a good idea. So people would go back to using the other watches, and that's when everyone would realize how broken things are. (<-------- person who mainly uses the other watches) Man the broken things in this game and how I could talk about the times as other classes I got the upper hand through no fault of my own, but these particular weak ideas of unlocks, and I haven't even posted all of them. Re: The deadringer. - Hobospartan - 06-21-2011 Dead Ringer is more irritating than overpowered. It's irritating to 'kill' someone, know exactly where he goes, and not be able to stop him because I'm not playing pyro. Taking damage when dead ringered should reduce cloak instead of damage, so when you chase down a spy, you can actually have a chance of killing him, instead of wasting 30+ seconds chasing him, killing him, and getting back to the front lines. Re: The deadringer. - chronomaster - 06-22-2011 Out of all of those, only the 'grenades' are actually effective at exposing a DR spy. The rest of them have their effects cancelled upon fake death, and require you to hit the spy in order to 'mark' him again. Hitting someone being the big problem as all of the weapons on there that mark aren't spammable. Never mind the fact that he's, you know, VIRTUALLY INVINCIBLE even if you know where he is. Also Flamethrower isn't on that list lol. These weapons exist and are in use. They are OP against anything BUT the deadringer. Also duck, if you know your opinion is invalid, why post it? Shitty and broken weapons against other classes dont really mean much if they are in use and still BS against IW spies. Fan o war for example, essentially a terrible weapon, hit a spy with it and its still got that mark over his head no matter what. or milk, because a scout doesn't know how to aim a pistol, he gets jarate in exchange for his failure of scootiness. |
