Why would we use Steam for Civ? You can just as easily create a game online without it.

Like Bacon said Civ 4 isn't really RTS. Most of it involves turn based so you won't have to go crazy with the micromanaging

I'd be down for this. I also only have the original Civ 4.
Playing the "real world" map is a lot of fun in multiplayer. Get everyone started in the old world and watch the chaos as we all try to colonize the Americas

The only thing I hate about that is that if you like playing as the Greek/Romans like I do you start off at such a shitty position.

I'd be willing to give this a shot. I usually play PBEM/24-hour Pitboss, so I might have to learn to adjust to a little more rapid-fire game...
