For some reason I cant get any sound in TF2. I tried reinstalling it, and the sound works in portal and HL2. Any suggestions?

I've never encountered this problem before. I can't really help ya.  :-\

You may want to try steam forums, at least they'll respond...eventually.

the settings are on headphones and high. Ive tried just about every commbination of the sound settings and of course both the soundFX and music volumes are set as high as they go

I'm not an expert on Vista, but I'd... set Audio in TF2 to "2 Speakers" instead of "Headphones".  Also, check and make sure that your speaker settings in Windows is also "2 Speakers".  I am *guessing* that Headphone mode killed sound going to your main speakers.  When I plug in a headset, my main speakers cut off and I get sound only in the headphones.

I tried that fail, thanks for the input though, if there wasnt a  steam update or DoDS didnt mess it up some how, it must have had something to do with defragging my hard drive this morning. That the only other thing Ive done since yesterday
