The X is Silent - ZargonX - 05-22-2008 Since these are all the rage, I guess I'll take a few minutes and introduce myself as well. I am ZargonX, real name Joel (which is why I get momentarily confused when people are yelling at WTF Joel) and I've been a gamer since the day my dad bought us an Intellevision back in the early mists of the 80's. From there I graduated to an Apple IIe and, finally, a PC. My earliest loves were Lucas Arts and Sierra adventure games and the glory that was the Adventure Game Construction Set. After a few years, I saved up my lawn mowing money and bought myself an NES, and that opened up another whole world of gaming. While I am still very much a Nintendo fanboy, I am still a PC gamer at heart. I discovered the original Team Fortress back when it was a Quake mod, and played the crap out of it. I somehow managed to miss TFC entirely, but TF2 has sucked me back in. It's also what's gotten me into mapmaking, as many of you have been seen Outside of TF, I love strategy games of all types, most RPGs, and board gaming of all types. Like any good curmudgeonly old gamer (I'm 29), I think most games these days aren't as good as they used to be. In real life, I'm a web designer for a publishing company in Baltimore, and my real goal is to be a screenwriter. I've got a film production company I formed with my friends several years back, and we've shot a number of short films as well as several music videos. We are currently trying to phase up to a more professional model, so we'll see what the future holds for us. In other news, I'm getting married on Saturday, so you probably won't be seeing much of me for the next week or so, since I'll be sitting on a beach in Belize drinking... uh... whatever they drink on the beach in Belize Re: The X is Silent - ScottyGrayskull - 05-22-2008 (05-22-2008, 09:05 PM)ZargonX link Wrote: In other news, I'm getting married on Saturday, so you probably won't be seeing much of me for the next week or so, since I'll be sitting on a beach in Belize drinking... uh... whatever they drink on the beach in Belize Three words: One Barrel Rum. Best fucking rum in the god damn world, hands down. Aside from that there's Belekin beer which is also pretty darn good. Lighthouse is okay, but it's the tourist beer. Oh, and huzzah on getting married. A protip though: when you're consummating the marriage, don't think of me. It'll be funny. He'll shrug it off now as nothing, but when the time comes somewhere in the back of his brain will remember/be reminded that I told him not to think of me, and then it'll be all he can think about. It'll be hilarious. :p Re: The X is Silent - ZargonX - 05-23-2008 (05-23-2008, 12:42 AM)NiceGuy link Wrote: [quote author=CaffeinePowered link=topic=346.msg7978#msg7978 date=1211511946] Ditto that. It doesn't get much worse than having a partner who thinks your big hobby is a pointless waste of time. Re: The X is Silent - fyre - 05-23-2008 Welcome and congrats. You know, they've got all these old-fashioned assignments for the years (like one year is supposed to be paper, five year is wood, etc), but I think it's time they finally updated them for modern times. I think YouTube video works great for One, and for Two I can do an iPhone app...
