Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - Surf314 - 07-28-2008 Quick poll for Scotty Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - rumsfald - 07-28-2008 If you are an athletic person with a short, urban commute you can pull this off, provided you have shower facilities at work. Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - ainmosni - 07-28-2008 Yes he does... and is bloody annoying for me on my bike... Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - CaffeinePowered - 07-28-2008 Yes, and bikers do too (provided there is not a formal bike path) When I bike I HATE biking on the same pavement as cars, and when driving a car i hate when bikers are on the road. When riding I'm worried that someone isn't going to give me my space and I'm going to get splattered, and in a car Im always worried that I'm not giving enough space or they are going to somehow spontaneously fall over, which would be no fault of my own but it would be my fault anyway. Personally I feel that bikers should stay on the sidewalk or a designated bike lane. Bike hits someone on the side walk at least nobody dies, bike and a car, odds are that biker is dead or crippled depending on the speed. I knew a friend of a friend who got killed in Chicago because someone opened a door on him, fell over and got run over, not a good way to go. /end rant Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - Dave - 07-28-2008 totally gay. I know a guy who rides into Manhattan for work from Brooklyn everyday on his bike. Even in the summer he manages not to stink like a total turd. Also, my younger brother refers to roller bladers as fruit booters. He managed to call some relative of his and told them what happened. He was a bike messenger going down a street. A pulled over taxi's door opened just as he was passing, knocking him off of his bike into the middle of the road where a car ran him over. He really didn't seem too upset about the whole ordeal either. Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - cannedpeahes - 07-28-2008 Mm. My uncle died in a bike accident on the road. But after Europe, I think I prefer bikes to cars, at least in an urban environment. Re: Does a roller blader on a public street look like a douche? - Surf314 - 07-28-2008 Wow I'm surprised it's a pretty even split between douche and not a douche (with the exception of traditional douche attire).
