BRB!Uninstalling City? - Tragic Hero - 08-04-2008

Eschatos kind of gave me this idea with his Dwarf Fortress idea.  What if we all get Sim City 3000 or Sim City 4 and we, as a community, create a ctiy? One member would get the city of 1 or 2 years and then said member sends the save file to another member and that person plays for another 2 years.  And of course whoever ruins the city gets massive "smites" from the rest of us.

I think if the effort is put into it (and no one cheats) it could lead to some pretty interesting results.

Thoughts?

/Sim City bores me.

A lot. I disapprove.

Only if I can parade a giant walking robot thing through it.

It's been awhile since I played sim city 2000 on pentium 133Mhz, but I think I can still manage to reap destruction and sow economic turmoil.

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - ainmosni - 08-05-2008

This sounds like a fun idea. The city will look weird than if the creator would be on acid all the time though...

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - Eschatos - 08-05-2008

The latest version I've played is 2000, but sure.

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - ScottyGrayskull - 08-05-2008

I'd be up for it. My cities start to stagnate after they reach 100-150K though. :-\

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - Versus - 08-05-2008

I can never get a positive income without my city fucking up Tongue

brb, gonna start yet another city.

also, simcity 4 with the expansion ftw.

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - bjlsurfer - 08-05-2008

Sounds awesome.  I haven't played SC4 in forever, but I'm pretty sure we could do this sort of thing prettyeasily using their online SimCityScape thingy... we should look into that.

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - Fail Medic - 08-05-2008

wtf mayor spore invoked martial law and 99% tax rates again?!?!?!?!??!?!

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - Versus - 08-05-2008

Tax rates only go up to 20% Sad

Easy way to make money: have a giant amount of "dirty industry" buildings, then crank the tax rate to 20%.

Well, I just made a decent city...~65k people, monthly positive income of around $4k, etc.

Thats what I would probably go with except I would make doing the "Rush Hour" missions illegal.  Makes the game way too easy when you just keep running garbage to the dump or doing military missions.  I'll be getting things together for this shortly.

I suppose I would allow it although the plan would be to keep the city running as best as possible.  If you want to halt progress by adding a disaster then that would be your choice (would add for excellent drama).

Or carve out a giant dick shaped island.

Exactly...although there are signs you can put up to say such things but the skys the limit I suppose.

I think that was the implied strategy of most people.  But who will get to implement it first?

Re: BRB!Uninstalling City? - Eschatos - 08-06-2008

I have a *completely legal download* running.  Any idea when we'll be starting this?

I'm still looking for my copy, if I don't find it when I get home from work I will start *not downloading* my copy and we will start tomorrow.  Look for a official post about this sometime today though.

If you need a *legitimite link* I found a really good one.  ~2 hours for a 1.3 gig download ain't bad.
