FF Dissidia - CaffeinePowered - 09-08-2008 Thoughts/Opinions? Seems like square is trying to replicate the success of smash brothers with FF. The game seems to come off as taking itself too seriously IMO in the trailers where as while at least the story mode of smash attempted some bit of seriousness there was always an undertone that it was all one big joke. I think if they want to match the numbers of smash brothers they are doing it completely on the wrong platform. At the very least it should be Wii/PSP/PS2, if not PS3/360/Wii. I doubt Id pick up a PSP for this despite being an FF fanboy, while its pretty cool to see Squall dueling Sephiroth, Im just not sold on this yet. Trailers - Subtitled - Characters Trailer Roster Thus Far: Game - Good - Evil FF1 - Warrior of Light - Garland FF2 - Frion - Emperor FF3 - Onion Knight - Cloud of Darkness FF4 - Cecil - Golbez FF5 - (Unannounced) - ExDeath FF6 - (Unannounced) - Kefka FF7 - (Unannounced) - Sephiroth FF8 - Squall - Ultimecia FF9 - Zidane - Kuja FF10 - Tidus - Jecht They seem to be going to a good and bad character that had a story connection in each particular game, given this, Id predict Cecil for IV, Bartz for V, Terra for VI (or possibly Celes, if its Locke Ill bust a nut that they couldn't include one fucking female hero), and Cloud for VII. This would make a roster of 20 playable characters. Id also wager that anything from XI will be omitted, and that XII will likely not have any characters. XII would be a possibility but I don't think its likely considering it just came out last year. Re: FF Dissidia - Vandamguy - 09-08-2008 pyyyyyyyyyyyrate also : ooh blitzball is back! Re: FF Dissidia - Squishy3 - 09-08-2008 I would rather have Zack than Cloud. He fought Sephiroth, defeated him temporarily, and defeated all but 3 people of the entire Shinra army! Who cares about these fancy space rocks and time-squishing and clone angst. D: Kefka did more awesome shit with less materials and loved it. He's... He's... A villainous McGuyver. He was a complete asshole who cared about nothing except himself and causing death and destruction. He's almost the Joker of the JRPG villian crowd. Re: FF Dissidia - Wedge - 09-11-2008 Sabin or GTFO. Actually I'd take a FFVI only game over most of the rest of those characters. I mean seriously, FF VI really has enough characters for it's own game, and any one of them is more awesome than 90% of the characters from the rest of the series. Re: FF Dissidia - [fr31ns]Karrde - 09-11-2008 Thought I saw the Amano style Paladin Cecil in there. But yeah, this game looks full of fail. Re: FF Dissidia - Dave - 09-11-2008 theres an FF fan in my SD class at college, he has a bumfluff moustache and he likes anime, I want to hit him fairly hard. Re: FF Dissidia - CaffeinePowered - 09-17-2008 Re: FF Dissidia - Fail Medic - 09-17-2008 "Summon animations" will wear thin reeeeealy fast. Final Smashes weren't that bad for the most part (Capt. Falcon's probably worst offender?), but still. If they go over the top, they better be interactive and dynamically counter-able... like, Bahamut comes out, but your guy scores one or several ranged attack hits during B's chargeup and either interrupts or weakens the MegaFlare. Or, your guy totally *clocks* the summoner during the first part of the summon and it's totally interrupted. |
