Dead Space - timepants - 10-17-2008 Anybody tried this yet? I'd really like to play it but I do not have enough $ to buy it and GameFly doesn't have it available right now. Re: Dead Space - CaffeinePowered - 10-17-2008 Im not going to torrent and try it cause its coming to PC Oct 20th Re: Dead Space - KarthXLR - 10-17-2008 It's gotten good reviews from what I've seen. Close to 9's. I'm not really into horror, so I think I'll pass. Re: Dead Space - Greatbacon - 10-17-2008 I don't think I'll pick it up on release (I'm savin' mah monies for L4D) but I'll probably pick it up eventually. Looks like fun to me. I'm not sure whether to play it with a controller though, from the videos it looks made for slightly clunkier controls but in a good way. Re: Dead Space - copulatingduck - 10-17-2008 waiting for free time and gamefly Re: Dead Space - Eschatos - 10-17-2008 I'll buy in a few months if it's a good PC port. If it's not, I'll consider other options.
Well it does look like it has the RE style of gameplay, so clunky controls are to be expected. Re: Dead Space - Wedge - 10-17-2008 There was a review of the PC copy, and it said to use a controller even on the PC version, because otherwise it has shitty mouse-mapped-to-analogue controls that work even worse than a controller. Re: Dead Space - Squishy3 - 10-17-2008 It has the RE4 style of gameplay. I played through about half of the first chapter. The atmosphere in it is fantastic, and the sound design is great. It's definitely worth a playthrough I think. Also audio logs are fanfuckingtastic. Basically Dead Space = RE4 + The Thing + Event Horizon. A very good combination. Considering Squishy's quote, doesn't RE4 play infinitely better on the Wii, which is basically like using a mouse to aim?
we really can't say without trying it, and considering there's no not torrent for it yet, we'll have to wait and see anyways, from what I played it feels fine with a controller, besides it's obviously not going to be a shooter all the time, I had to melee quite a bit because I didn't notice the game told me how to reload :-X also knocking somebody's head off with a blunt object is very satisfying Re: Dead Space - Wedge - 10-17-2008 (10-17-2008, 09:08 PM)CaffeinePowered link Wrote:
Considering Squishy's quote, doesn't RE4 play infinitely better on the Wii, which is basically like using a mouse to aim?
No, RE4 for Wii had a redone control scheme which was nothing like the PC port. You just controlled a cursor on screen which the character would automatically aim at. That would work great on the PC, but all it got was a shitty Ubisoft port. The PC port of RE4 (and I presume Dead Space) simply has you controlling the normal OTS aiming that is made for analogue sticks, except with a mouse. Which the closest thing I can equate that too, it's somewhat like using the mouse to fire a turrent in Planetside... from third person. Re: Dead Space - ThunderStain - 10-19-2008 I got Dead Space last night and love it. The sound and lighting are probably some of the best Ive seen and the controls seem fine to me ( Theirs an asteroid shooting part that sucks though). The game does an alright job of making me jump and ive been in 3 or 4 parts that had me really stressed out/scared. It plays nice because dismembering guys is ultra satisfying to look at cause of the gore and weapons are actually fun to use ( The ripper ). Its pretty much re4 in space Re: Dead Space - Honest - 10-19-2008 Forte ruined the ending for me, game is now unplayable out of rage.
