PC not recognizing Hard Drive - Maxon - 12-27-2008 For no apparent reason, I'm guessing my HD died or something else is up, cause I just shutdown my computer last night, had no problems, but when I went to turn it on this morning, it wasn't recognizing it at all and was trying to load up the other boot options. I tried different connections to it to see if maybe one of the wires was loose or funky, but nothing helped. Have no idea what to check to see whats up cause I've had no problems with it and it's barely a few months old. It also read my DVD drive which connects the same way as the HD. This is what I have taken from the build topic I had. -NZXT Alpha Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Open Window -OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply -ASUS P5K PRO LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard -G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - -Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor -MSI R4850-512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire -Seagate Barracuda 2700 SATA 500gb Re: PC not recognizing Hard Drive - CaffeinePowered - 12-27-2008 What kind of HDD, EIDE or SATA, and when you start the computer can you hear the HDD spinning up? XD Re: PC not recognizing Hard Drive - CaffeinePowered - 12-27-2008 Try disconnecting all your other drives and see if it spins then, if it still doesn't you can rule out power issues, also try multiple power cables when doing this. I'm sure it would cause problems in a lot of places, even if it doesn't turn out to be illegal. Their role ranges from comparable to that of a state trooper to large-scale federal tasks similar to what the FBI are responcible for. CSIS is more like the CIA mashed with the NSA. They do most of their work along side immigration and spend a lot of their time researching for background checks. http://www.csis-scrs.gc.ca/ http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/ More to the topic at hand: If you are in the US, contact Seagate for an Advance RMA. That is where they send you the new drive and you reuse the packaging to return the old drive. It's faster and costs you less. |
