Alas, I have no gifts for you, for my earthly possessions have been stolen by a most dastardly rogue of kleptomanic persuasion.

I must thank you for your proposed grammatical corrections. I confess that I neglected to include the necessary "the" that you indicated. However, while removal of the word "off" may not be incorrect, I do feel that it is also not incorrect to let it remain.
rumsfald: A tempting offer, to be sure. But my own English usage is so far from that of the King's that I feel I must decline your offer. Truly it is written, "Commas are the devil."
