Cooking Thread - HeK - 01-14-2009 Post your adventures in horrible cooking here. I am going to start with a Bacon Log; 1 lbs of bacon, 1 lbs of Italian sausage, 1 onion (chopped), BBQ sauce/rub of your choice. Step 1: Weave a bacon mat. We used a 6x6 lattice, but the length of your bacon will dictate the size. Step 2: Slice up and fry the remainder: Step 3: Season the bacon. Step 4: Lay out your Italian sausage. Step 5: Add more bacon; this from step 2. Step 6: Mix in an onion, cause you gotta have your veggies. Step 7: Roll into a log. Step 8: Smother in BBQ sauce. Step 9: Cook. I am currently looking at 300F, and will check each hour. I think it will take around 2 hours. Will post more pictures when done. Step 10: Heart attack. Re: Cooking Thread - Dave - 01-14-2009 Step 10: die of heart diesease. i dun liek bacon haha jsut found the small print nice one hek :p Re: Cooking Thread - Wedge - 01-14-2009 That's disgusting even to me, and I make absurd food all the time. I just use Bacon Salt most of the time in lieu of bacon now though =X. Re: Cooking Thread - ThunderStain - 01-14-2009 Its...... Beautiful. I really want to try this. I dont believe anything remotely close to "Italian sausage" comes into town so do you think ground beef or anything like that would work? Also I will take requests about deviating from the original recipe. Re: Cooking Thread - Chief - 01-14-2009 Jeez. I love bacon, but holy shit that's a shitload of bacon. [/quote] Dude, it's the Chinese Diner. If he's not actually Chinese, THEN I HAVE BEEN LIED TO. Re: Cooking Thread - Luinbariel - 01-14-2009 Any kind of ground meat would work but I really think the Italian sausage is best because it has a little more flavour. This actually turned out really nicely. I am VERY surprised by how tasty it is, and how little grease is actually present when you eat it. This is actually something that you might serve to friends, try it sometime. It's not as terrible as it looks. Re: Cooking Thread - HeK - 01-14-2009 It turned out to be very tasty in the end, albeit not the best looking meal: From two pounds of meat it gives you roughly eight portions. If you cannot find Italian sausage, either go with chopped breakfast sausage or ground pork. You should be able to find Italian Sausage tho, it's more common then you think. You can get it at Safeway. I feel a key part is to use a decent BBQ sauce and spices. Re: Cooking Thread - ScottyGrayskull - 01-15-2009 Looking at the prep I thought I was going to be ill, but looking at the finished product it actually looks quite good. Like a meatloaf of bacon! Re: Cooking Thread - ainmosni - 01-15-2009 I just lost any appetite I might have had this month... Re: Cooking Thread - Versus - 01-15-2009 (01-14-2009, 06:55 PM)CopulatingDuck link Wrote: i came |
