Joining Negative Gamer for Mid to Late 90's and Early 00's PC FPS DM Nights! - wardrox - 01-16-2009

Hey, I'm Wardrox, the founder/Editor-in-Chief of Negative Gamer (http://www.negativegamer.com). I've spoken to a few members of brbu about this idea, and was instructed the best way to go forward is to start a thread (so, I have).
On NG I've been planning on setting up a gaming night. A night for playing old FPS games (doom, quake, half-life etc). As I know a fair few of you guys I thought it might be cool to have the night a joint affair between NG and brbu. You guys also know just a little bit more about PC gaming / setting up servers than me
The plan is to have it on a Thursday, starting in February. Haven't picked the first game yet (keep with the same game for a month, then change).
Anyway, anybody interested in helping out/taking part?

My general lines of thought were for Quake 1 DM as the first game, but I'm very open to other ideas.

I think most of the games they are proposing are probably on Steam/GOG. So they'd be a good/cheap pickup anyways.

NG was something I made way back at the start of summer, forgot about then re-started at PAX.
I was thinking Steam / GOG to keep things nice and cheap.
We don;t have to do everything first. I would love some TF-Classic at some point (a game I have ashamedly played little of)

Ok, well it seems there is much interest going on. The next step is to answer the question of a server. I have the ability to host here, but I'm in the UK and we might get some lagtactular performance. As we're playing older games, I assume somebodies PC will do? Any suggestions?
