Re: Battle to Remember 2 - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 01-20-2009

Great article, but it's more about TFC itself then the particular match. That's understandable though, as writing a full length article about a recent match seems daunting, and one several years ago even more so. Still really enjoyed it, and the parts about the learning curve really rang true, I played a couple rounds with Geoff recently, and was completely lost, and ended up just sniper camping on defense :X

The writing style tends to fall just a little flat when you get into the heavy reminiscing. A couple of hints.

1) An author can write for himself, but other people are supposed to be reading it and it's your job to make them keep doing that. Keep your audience in mind.
2) The point should be the point, and everything should have one.
3) Find your fall back word. Stop falling back to it.

Points taken, thanks peaches Smile

I find those parts hard to write without going too heavily into jargon or too much detail, as well as almost falling into an oratory style and writing as if I was telling the story orally to a friend.

It's not just you, believe me. That's pretty common, and any writer with technical knowledge is guilty of it.
