Should threads ever be locked? - fyre - 01-26-2009 Thread locking is silly, unless a thread has turned abusive. That is all. Quote:move to lock before this thread dissolves into complete and utter lunacy. Lunacy is good. Re: Should threads ever be locked? - KarthXLR - 01-26-2009 This thread needs to be locked. Now. Re: Should threads ever be locked? - CaffeinePowered - 01-26-2009 Eschatos locked his own thread that got necro'd, you, as the author of the thread, have the ability to lock you own thread at any time. The most recent theads I've locked were the recent bitch-fest and QQing that was spread across 3 topics that were all basically the same thing. In the case of this redundancy I locked two of them and left messages stating that if someone felt the need to continue discussion in that particular thread as opposed to keeping things in one topic I could re open it. No one PM'd me to get the thread back. Just keep in mind just because a thread gets locked doesn't mean an admin locked it. I also never delete anything, I move things to an admin-only archive if they were overly flamboyant, but nothing has ever been deleted by an admin (except NSFW Images in SFW threads), authors can also delete their posts as well (and I believe the whole thread as well) Re: Should threads ever be locked? - KarthXLR - 01-26-2009 (01-26-2009, 08:01 PM)CaffeinePowered link Wrote: Eschatos locked his own thread that got necro'd, you, as the author of the thread, have the ability to lock you own thread at any time.Every time I try to delete a thread, it says I need an admin to do it for me. Just because I would never support thread-locking on my forums doesn't mean I should impose my view on the forums that someone else owns. and runs. Oh, sorry. I'm still a bit annoyed that the Biggest Thread got locked though. :-\ Re: Should threads ever be locked? - Luinbariel - 01-26-2009 IÂ voted yes. If there is a reason for it, they should be locked. Re: Should threads ever be locked? - Vongore - 01-26-2009 fyre is the new/old Mr Grey Re: Should threads ever be locked? - Benito Mussolini - 01-27-2009 Yes. There is no admin abuse in here. If a thread gets locked, it deserved it, and it usually isn't its starter's fault. Re: Should threads ever be locked? - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 01-27-2009 Neonie? |
