Torrents Broken :( - Geoff - 02-14-2009

Augh.

One day, all of a sudden, my torrents stopped working.  And by that, I mean, 0kB/s Download 0kB/s Upload.  I tried downloading and installing another client but that failed.  The only way I can download torrents now is through bitlet.org  Sad

Help?

I don't think so, because I can use bitlet.

Does anyone else have Comcast?

http://www.measurementlab.net/measurement-lab-tools#glasnost

What it does:
Glasnost attempts to detect whether your Internet access provider is performing application-specific traffic shaping. Currently, you can test if your ISP is throttling or blocking BitTorrent. Tests for other applications will follow soon.

Data collected:
The measurement server records the user's IP address, and all data packets received by the server from your computer or sent by the server to your computer. In addition, it monitors errors in the communication with the server and the throughput of the transfers for those communication "flows," and sends them to the server.

How to use:
Visit the Glasnost site for M-Lab and click the "Start Testing" button.

This tool is configured to serve multiple users at the same time. However, if too many users try to access the tool at once, some will receive a message asking them to try the test later.

I think you fit the target audience.

What he said. I have Comcast also and they've gone so far as to "Accidentally" shut off our service for a few days. Fucking Comcast.

The test failed.  It said nothing is being blocked.  Serious wtf?

Might as well call and ask or it's going to be similar to what Honest said; Comcast fails at life and they may have just accidentally fucked shit up, or something else. I remember taking all kinds of calls like this (I worked for Comcast for awhile) where customers had this problem for ages and calling it in finally started some sort of process that I no longer remember.

Are you using a router? What BT client are you using?

If you are using the 'standard' or well known BT ports, they may now be blocked.

Yeah, my connection is wireless.  I was using uTorrent, but when it stopped working I installed Bitcomet.

Comcast uses traffic shaping. Use encryption and avoid traffic shaping.
