Dragonball was supposed to be a light hearted comedy adventure. Dragonball Z was supposed to be a SUPER XTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEME ULTIMATE FIGHT, and that's what they'll try to do, cheesy 80s effects and all.
EDIT:
I just watched the trailer, and I am glad I don't care about Dragonball anymore. They seem to have changed literally everything about the story that I can remember.

Me and my friends will probably see it for the same reasons we (though sadly, I was working) went to Twilight. Â It's just so terrible. Â Oh, and Blues, if you bring a camera and record yourself in the theater going "Oh, God! Â This is just so EXTREEEEEEEME!" Â I'll love you forever

Well, if Roshi is as perverted as he is in the anime I could see it at least being entertaining. The comedy relief was definitely the high point of the Dragonball series. ^_^

Half of the funny of Roshi being a perv was that he was so old. The guy that they have playing Roshi dosn't look nearly as old.
