Glitchy lag on tf2 - WTF Joel - 02-23-2009

So for awhile now I have been getting this really glitchy/jumpy lag on tf2. When I'm playing on our server I will usually jump around a bit. Examples of such would be be walking to an area, and stopping, then warping back from said point about 3 feet. It makes it increasingly harder to play the game with this. A lot of the times I will hit quick switch to take out my mele weapon. I'll take it out, but then Im holding my original weapon again like nothing happened, it tends to happen a lot. All the time, my ping is usually 50 - 60. I have no clue what is up, and until I get it fixed I can't play tf2, and it is mostly why I haven't been playing tf2. Also, for the record, I'm living on the east coast of canada, and I used to have pings of 30 when I first started playing on the server. Can anyone tell me what is wrong, or how to fix this? -_-

I started getting the same problem yesterday, actually.  My ping looked fine, so I wasn't really sure what the issue was.

Ive noticed it every once in a while too

50-60 ping isn't laggy. It's either a client side issue with your computer, or a server side problem with the BRBU server or Valve again. Either way, not much you can do to resolve it. Check your choke/loss to see if it's a server problem, but I'm doubting this as it would be making your ping outrageous. More than likely it's just Valve again, given your computer being brand new and all.

Use net_graph 5 when it happens and look for choke or loss. If you're getting either, it is most likely due to some combination of your connection, the server's connection, your machine's power (though not likely since you just built a new machine right?), and the server being overloaded. To check if it's a connection issue, you could try tracert or just pinging and looking for loss.

edit: oh, yea, pretty much everything Blues said, I'm retarded and didn't read first.

I'll do so next time I hop in the server. But yeah, I've noticed it got really bad after they put out the tf2 update that added the custom crosshairs, but it's pretty constant and I feel no desire to play as long as its like that :\
