Netbooks - Luca Shoal - 03-03-2009

Recommend me one, preferably under $400 and able to access Wi-Fi. I'm looking at the Dell's even, well aware of their reputation.

And this is meant for portability, not really for extensive gaming :V. I just can't lug my desktop everywhere.

Re: Netbooks - Versus - 03-04-2009

EEE, 900 or 1000 series.

Re: Netbooks - Blues - 03-04-2009

fuck those goddamn retarded AHRIAHGAGHSAGHIASGA FUCKING EEE

Just pick anything on sale from HP or Dell, and Dell's rep is mostly for their desktops and that laptop battery set that was exploding back in like '02. Their laptops are actually pretty solid.

settle down blues, i know everything in existence makes you mad Smile

also, i think dell is selling a netbook for 200 dollars right now. maybe it was a special sale though
yeah sorry i think that was from one of the emails that my dad gets for being a dell preferred account member or w/e

Re: Netbooks - Luca Shoal - 03-04-2009

Yeah, the Inspiron 9 which runs Ubuntu.

Re: Netbooks - HeK - 03-04-2009

Can rarely go wrong with Dell, just have to ditch their software load.

I've been eying the new EEE 1000HE myself, I love the 9+ hour battery but I wish it had the SSD hard drive. Mind you, it's out of your requested price limit.

Re: Netbooks - [fr31ns]Karrde - 03-05-2009

Indeed.  You just need a portable wordprocessor and webbrowser basically?  Just get a cheap ass dell.

As long as you don't expect good support and are happy with meh quality hardware... Don't know about the netbooks, actually I heard they are pretty good but I've only had bad experiences with Dell stuff... Within and outside my job...

Re: Netbooks - KarthXLR - 03-05-2009

I've never met a windows laptop I liked. Seriously.

But I'm quite happy with the MacTop.

Re: Netbooks - bjlsurfer - 03-05-2009

My reccos:
HP Mini1000.  Keyboard's one of the best i've seen.
With XP: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=Mini&series_name=mini1000xp_series
With propitiatory Linux interface: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_can_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&a1=Category&v1=Mini&series_name=mini1000mi_series

If you want some more robust hard drive space, I'd go with an MSI wind:

100bux cheaper than the HP ones.

Final Destination time.
Asus or Dell? I'm gonna go with one or the other.

edit - if I go Asus, it'll be the first or third one Versus noted

Re: Netbooks - rumsfald - 03-06-2009

for me, there is nothing I use a a netbook for that I couldn't do on a good smartphone for cheaper, smaller, lighter, and without being tethered to a wifi location.

Yeah, I was just about to say with crappy battery life and a shitty resolution like that, why not just get a phone?

Re: Netbooks - Versus - 03-06-2009

crappy battery life, wut?

Re: Netbooks - Luca Shoal - 03-06-2009

Because I have a phone Rummy :V. And don't need/want to pay monthly service fees? Nor do I need a phone contract.

http://www.androidg1.org/g1-deals/ Plus they seem to cost the same price as a netbook anyways.

Re: Netbooks - Luca Shoal - 03-12-2009

bumpin for further opinions :V

Re: Netbooks - Luca Shoal - 03-17-2009
