Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - sarcasticsteve - 04-25-2009 http://www.withinwindows.com/2009/04/24/secret-no-more-revealing-windows-xp-mode-for-windows-7/ Yes! Microsoft has finally learned! Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - A. Crow - 04-25-2009 Haha! Tie Fighter will continue to work into the next decade! Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - sarcasticsteve - 04-25-2009 Yeah there seems to be only one real problem. The download will only be free with Windows 7 Enterprise, Professional or Ultimate. Thats kind of a downer. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - backfire - 04-25-2009 Like anyone gets Home Basic anyways though. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - Blues - 04-25-2009 I am so happy I shit myself. Win7 just looks better and better. True but a lot of people will get Home Premium, and XP Mode isn't included with that. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - A. Crow - 04-25-2009 I'm sure there'll be some *ahem* means to get it on any version. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - sarcasticsteve - 04-25-2009 If it's possible, I'll just pay the extra bit to get XP Mode on Home Premium. I always worry Microsoft will find out if I have a downloaded version of Windows. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - Wedge - 04-25-2009 None of this is meant for normal consumers anyways really. The reason they're doing it is for all the businesses out there that don't or can't get the software they use running on Vista, so they need to stick to XP. This is Microsoft trying to make them upgrade, because they won't lose compatibility now. It's gonna work too I bet. The offer is sweet enough that most businesses will bite Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - Blues - 04-26-2009 (04-25-2009, 05:33 PM)Sarcastic Steve link Wrote: If it's possible, I'll just pay the extra bit to get XP Mode on Home Premium. I always worry Microsoft will find out if I have a downloaded version of Windows. Lol@elaw. All MS can do is tag your copy if you're dumb and use a halfass cracked version, then try to download updates directly from their site using their verification downloader. If they were in your shit like you think they would be, you can bet they'd make thousands of people much richer. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - backfire - 04-26-2009 So there's Home Basic, Home Premium and just Ultimate, right? Here I thought they were cutting down on seperate versions, at least dropped the stripped down Basic altogether. By the way, anyone know of a release day? I've been going on the "trial" for a couple months now and am down to 10 days on my last rearm. Was hoping to buy that "Buy vista now upgrade to 7 free" thing they talked about. Re: Windows XP Mode: Offered free with Windows 7! - sarcasticsteve - 04-26-2009 There are like a million versions again it seems. There are Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, Professional & Enterprise that I know of. As for the release date, it's set for sometime 'Fall 2009' so I'd say Oct-Nov range? There is the official RC dropping in May though, and if you download it then it's good for a year.
