Laptop Suggestions - Eschatos - 05-13-2009 My dad needs a new laptop, and with my computer being broken I have very little time to research good options. He needs a laptop with a decently sized screen capable of running Civilization 4 well(that's really the only game he plays). Budget is $1000, but less would be good. Re: Laptop Suggestions - Blues - 05-13-2009 Civ4 and nothing else? Pick up any cheapass C2D machine that has a "real" video card in it (no integrated, you want dedicated video memory, and no uber budget cards). Basically anything with an 9600M should be in a good price range. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115539 Is the first one I ran across. FPS are generally the only thing that make you need to spend more on a laptop, because of the high GPU demand. Re: Laptop Suggestions - Blues - 05-14-2009 Also note, that 1300 res is a gimped ass resolution, and just looks plain weird. I wasn't looking when I threw that link up, just giving an example, but you might want to try finding something with a real 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. |
