I'm fucking terrified of bats.  Weird, baseless fear, really.  But yeah, if you're not interested in baticide, the cat carrier idea or the windows idea are both good.

<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills
<@Negate> 12121212121212121212
<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.

bats are an extremely potent vector for rabies if I'm not mistaken.

Hope you didn't get bitten (or bite it for that matter)

http://www.cdc.gov/RABIES/bats.html

Quote:How Can I Safely Capture A Bat In My Home?

If a bat is present in your home and you cannot rule out the possibility of exposure, leave the bat alone and contact an animal-control or public health agency for assistance. If professional help is unavailable, use precautions to capture the bat safely, as described below.

What you will need:

    * leather work gloves (put them on)
    * small box or coffee can
    * piece of cardboard
    * tape

Brown Bat

The little brown bat is one of America's most abundant and widespread species. It is often found roosting in attics or barns.

When the bat lands, approach it slowly, while wearing the gloves, and place the box or coffee can over it. Slide the cardboard under the container to trap the bat inside. Tape the cardboard to the container securely, and punch small holes in the cardboard, allowing the bat to breathe. Contact your health department or animal-control authority to make arrangements for rabies testing.

If you see a bat in your home and you are sure no human or pet exposure has occurred, confine the bat to a room by closing all doors and windows leading out of the room except those to the outside. The bat will probably leave soon. If not, it can be caught, as described, and released outdoors away from people and pets.

Obv this advice is most likely too late, I forgot about the rabies bit until just now. :\

First, check that it is not really a vampire in disguise. Depending on your views of vampirism this could be a good or bad thing. If it is a vampire then there is an entirely different way of dealing with it:

Warner Bros - Looney Tunes -  Bugs Bunny al castello del Conte Dracula

If not then get a large sheet and with the aid of another person throw it over the darn thing.

this happened to me, i think i hit it with a baseball bat or something

Sad

Turn off the lights and leave a path of exit open. He'll have an easier time finding his way out in the dark.

pretty sure radar and visible light don't interfere

I think he meant that visible light might be worse because they are nocturnal.

I thought you posted a link to vampire bats, that would keep anyone up at night. Notice I didn't link them because I am kind.

Bats eat insects, right?

Time for fly fishing.

Almost forgot: don't forget to eat it before it eats you.
