the way this is edited with frequent cuts, I think most of the players who play soldier on this server could compile a similar video with a month of steady playing.  I don't see anything that approaches fatal1ty q3 1:1 or rocket-arena goodness.

and if this is the same reptile as quake days (thresh days), I irc with a few folks who go back that far, so I know the reputation that carries, and the video is still meh.

Seriously though, great aim on air targets, I could never do that dealing with the delay adjustment for firing shots.  Also it makes me feel bad seeing the game run so smooth like that.

Still, this stuff just doesn't seem as impressive on modern games compared to crazy ass old stuff.

The air rockets and the juggling are what did it for me. Even now I don't think anyone on our server can hit them that often, but you're right Rummy, lots of cuts does kind of leave the question.

I thought it was an awesome vid, but I don't have any exposure to lder games. TF2 is my first rodeo.  :-[

Exactly, show me the out-takes where he misses 9 out of 10 of those mid-air rockets.

Also, maybe just me but this video seems to showcase good medicing a lot more that epic soldiering, a few instances where he almost gets owned by scouts save for having a medic on him.

I've played so little TF2 the last few weeks I haven't had any time for that rocket jumping practice I kept going on about. :S

You want practice, try a CTF_BBALL2 map that's empty. Or join one with people, and let them mop the floor with you, but at least you'll learn a lot.

Finally watched it. There really wasn't much in the  way of rocket jumping. At least nothing beyond the basics. Even most of his kills weren't that impressive because they were almost all crits which you have no control over. The mid-air shots were really cool though I will admit, and the video was very well put together.

Mid air shots aren't as hard as you'd think, plus editing together your greatest hits doesn't mean you can play like that all the time.

I do it a lot on warpath *assuming* there are some medics willing to partner up with you you rocket jump up shoot the people being sneaky sneaky on the path (can get quite a few snipers, demomen) fall down to safety, rinse, repeat.

There was some spots like where he was on top of C in Gravel Pit and when some soldiers tried to rocket jump up to him he shot them away in mid air.

Watched it. Actually gasped when he splashed the ground to launch that scout, and hit him with a crit while he was arcing over towards the gate on Dbowl3.
