Game Keeps Stalling

I dunno what's going on, but recently every now and then at random intervals (anywhere from 20-40 seconds), tf2 just sorta stalls for a bit. It only lasts around 3 seconds, more like a big hicup, but this has a rage-inducing way of happening always at the worst moments (leaving me to... say, sneak up on a sniper, shoot once, then end up get kukri'ed since I was too busy stalling). This doesn't happen on any other source games either.

I tried changing all my settings, turning frame-lock on and off, changing settings back to default, renaming my team fortress 2 folder to generate a new one, restarted steam, my computer, closed all other programs. This doesn't happen on any other source games either....

It's sorta like water torcher, except it gets you killed.. Can anyone help? :'(

Google -> Gamebooster

Basically it just shuts down everything that you don't need while playing a game. I haven't noticed a difference much but there is a difference indeed. It might help, but I don't truly know.

I've been getting exactly what you're describing for a while now. I think it might be my antivirus. Using McAfee(get it for free), what are you using if anything?

Well, that Gamebooster thing sorta eased the stalling a bit, but it's still there. Don't really know since it was kinda a slow game.

I've been using Kaspersky since I reformatted. Gunna change it here shortly seeing how it completely paranoid about anything and for every new game I launch it pops up calling it a virus and either quarantine or deletes the exe file. I'll try swapping that out to AVG or something and see how that works.

well it is your pc in the sense that it was not able to keep up with tf2's engine. chances are, even if you ran on high at launch (and haven't upgraded your system) you've taken a huge performance hit, even at lowered settings
