This is me putting an idea to paper, and I'm not committing to a project yet, but I've been daydreaming about this for a couple of months.
I dream of doing a dark, kick-ass video for the Medic, and two songs have come to me and said, "Hey, I'd be great for this." To start off, I'd like to float the idea to you guys and see if either of these songs would work or if you can think of another song. Candidate 1: Korn's "Counting On Me" Yes, I know Korn is looked down upon, hush, but I think the song really nails Medic. Quote:Why can't you ever back down? There's tons of potential for matching video to those lyrics. Towards the end of the song, there's the "Right Now! Right Now!" part which can be a brutal montage of successive unrelenting ubercharge bloodbaths. One totally optional bit I would go for would be this: you know how Jonathan Davis has his mic stand shaped in the form of a naked H.R. Giger-esque woman? The Medic would have a Heavy mic stand with the minigun replaced with the microphone. I'm totally stretching on that one, but like I said, daydreams. Candidate 2: Tool's "Vicarious" Quote:Why can't we just admit it? The treatment I imagine I'd give this would be a Medic floating as a spec sometimes and watching horrible things occur. "We won't give pause until the blood is flowing." He could stand motionless and medigun an unending line of his teammates marching to their deaths as he sings, "Vicariously I / live while the whole world dies. / Much better you than I. (wicked grin)" So, yeah, this song puts the Medic as a masochist rather than a sadist in "Counting On Me". Well, like I said, I don't even know yet if I would be able to put together a working video on either one of these, even with gigantic help. Still, I wanted to float it to y'all and see what y'all think and if y'all could think of another good dark and twisted or melancholy theme for him. I know we already picked his theme song, but this would be different. What do you think, sirs? |

I think this is a super idea, and the only other music I can think of recommending is anything by Linkin Park.

Liberal use of 'emo' tbh.Â
Katatonia - Evidence Quote:I hold my breath (I hold my breath) Maybe not as open to interpretation, but it's so good. (08-10-2008, 01:41 AM)HeK link Wrote:
X2
X9999999999999999999999999999999 X0 |

Listened to "Evidence" and read the lyrics. It seems to lend itself to the "Medic + Heavy 4ever" theme. Consider it considered. Linkin Park? I haven't listened to anything of theirs beyond what was on the radio. Would they have anything pertinent? |

You seem to have put a lot of thought into this Fail, so fair enough but it's just unfortunate that every kid that uploads TF2 videos feels the need to add 'atmosphere' by laying on a metal/rock/shit backing track. |

I understand that opinion and would agree with it, Budr. To "justify" this project, I'd have to do the Face Poser phenome thing to make characters sing the lyrics. I'd also need to animate ragdolls to play guitars and drums so I could simulate the obligatory "shot of the band" in otherwise thematic music videos. I'd really have to separate it from a mere gameplay video with a Winamp shuffle of Slipknot. |

I think Tool would be better. Korn is good but it just doesn't fit.

Not really angry like Korn, but more emo. Just listen to the whole 'Hybrid Theory' album. It's all pretty much the same genre. I'd also look at Stabbing Westward. 'Everything I touch', 'When I'm Dead', 'Torn Apart', 'You complete me'. 'You complete me' would be good with the whole Doc/Heavy pairing: Quote:I am lost in the darkness 'When I'm dead' is more angry-emo: Quote:I know the tears you're crying in your bed at night alone |

I have a few suggestions, but I guess it depends on the feel you're going for. I have the songs if you can't find them on the web. All of them are by Pig.
