So, after a hearty 2 hour sleep and a failed journey to the mall to purchase Disgaea (Wal-Mart FTL), I convinced my girlfriend that the only solution would be to draw myself and my friend as furries.
I'm not quite sure if this is fail or epic win. Or both. I'm the one on the left. OH, and yes, this was meant to be super cheesy. >_> |

You're right, all that epic talk last night turned me into a furry >____>
I've only heard good things about FFT, but I've never played it, so I can't really argue your points. I honestly haven't gone into the ridiculous amount of stuff in Disgaea 1 and 2, only the story and a bit beyond. Grinding some of the stuff just seemed a little out there. |

Isn't it like the DBZ of RPG's with supreme power level inflation. I can blow up a mountain, I can blow up a city, I can blow up a planet, I can blow up the galaxy!
It's like shit we got people who can blow up mountains, where do we progress? Planets! Damn we've painted ourselves in another corner what's bigger than a planet? So I heard that but like with attack points and ridiculous grinding. |

[/quote] Pretty sure every item has a hundred levels and that's it, split up into increments of ten levels, and from what I can tell you go into them really just to get the specialists within them. The specialists are modifiers for the item/weapon, which once gotten can be combined and transferred from item to item. Every item has random specialists and whatnot in it. You can finish all 100 levels, but it's not the most efficient way to max out an item. And you don't actually have to do any of that if you only want to beat the main story. Getting up to level 100 or so without resetting your level (you can do that, but you'll keep your stats) is more than enough iirc. Of course if you want to beat all the extra stuff you'll really need to do some grinding. Really a number-chaser's dream, as you can get your stats into the tens of millions and do just as much damage, which for some endgame content is necessary as enemies have hundreds of millions of hitpoints. It's all about figuring out what things have the best potential, and how most efficiently exploit that potential, as the extreme stats/levels can be gotten fairly quickly if you know what you're doing. I enjoyed Disgaea I, if only because it was very amusing, but Disgaea II just couldn't keep my attention nearly as much. I think the addition of even more super-long dungeons ala Caff's explanation had a lot to do with it. Maybe they'll scale it back for III, but I doubt it.
