They are going to start unlimited free-play again, but until there seems kind of a waste to change character names on a list every time someone makes a new account.

It's only free play if you don't buy it.

It was free to play, but only up until Battle Rank 6, which severly limits what you can/can't do

You can still do alot.  I had rather well "higher end" infiltraitor class set up at BR6 that pretty much let me to whatever I needed/wanted to do.  Highest level of hacking, etc... sure I couldn't get higher end weapons or plop on some serious armor while I had all my high end infiltrator cirts+enhancements but if you are a good infiltraitor you don't need those anyways.

But hacking an equipment terminal and popping into a MAX suit is so fun ;D
