Right now my choices are floor or tower compartment of my desk. I have the front open and I'm going to permanently remove the front door soon. Right now I put it in and there is about an inch on each side and a foot on top with plenty of airflow to the front and rear. What's the verdict? Do I need to work out a new place for it?

Floor, I would never put a tower in a space with enclosed sides, not just for airflow but ease of access. The Desk I have is open there are no drawers or compartments and the tower sits on a little stand attached to the desk so its off the floor but I can also get behind the case if need be

Try to avoid using the tower compartment. It becomes a hassle to clean the computer and hook things up. |

Both my cases sit on my carpet just fine. My rooms not big enough to justify a big ass desk. Speaking of which I am currently in the process of cleaning my room. Hate this shit.

My case has the PSU at the bottom as well. |

Pics? I'd love to see what you have been working on Surf. We should have a "show off your rig" thread (if there isn't one already).

There was one somewhere, it needs a bump. I'm quite proud of it TBH. I'm going to see how it does in the compartment for now though because my carpet is thick enough the bottom is covered and the fact the PSU is on the bottom and it vents to the bottom worries me. After playing TF2 for a couple hours yesterday with it in there there didn't seem to be too many problems, the air to the sides was a little warm but no where near alarmingly so. You will see when I post pics, somehow I got the case that manages to put a fan on every available surface area. |
