Do I spy some jasper and polished quartz sandstone? Maybe with some biotite and hematite flakes?

So far as I know (which isn't very far at all) these should just be various agates?

potentially. best way to tell would be to cut them in half as you already polished them. if it has layered growth rings its a agate.
Sedimentary rocks dont technically form agates only metamorphic and igneous as it involves crystallization so if you know what type it is that helps.

I do know that some of them have the banding; when they're polished you can partially see through them. It's how I find them. Out on the gravel road at my parents, if you go after dinner, they stick out and almost glow a little.

The roads get their gravel from the rock pit in my home town that's supposed to be leftovers from whatever the glaciers dumped there. So whatever I'm finding is coming from that spot.

Well, this batch is done.

Sadly, when I got home today, I noticed the tumbler wasn't rolling and the house had a distinct... smell of something burned out. Turns out the tumbler is done (lucky for me it was literally on the last day of the polishing stage, so they were done anyway). Gonna have to fix that/build another one?

It seems like because they were sitting still in the polishing compound for an unknown amount of time today, that a lot of it is stuck in the cracks and I can't get it out. So there's a lot of white crap on these, which blows. Some of these were going to be spectacular.

Anyhow here are the results. Please pardon my mangled fingers (gardening without gloves will wreck your hands kids).

In the race this picture is from, seven boats were up for the 10 minute warning, six boats crossed the start line, and two boats finished the race.  It was a pretty gnarly day.

The pants are wrong, I only used this costume for work this year. The severe irony of wearing that at work was that I wound up in the back, out of sight, making sandwiches. No joke.

Next year will be Shaggy proper, and my girlfriend will be Velma (she'll also be 21 so bars, parties, etc).
