Not sure how many other people here are fans of this series, but I've loved it since the demo for the first game came out. Broke my heart when the sequel sold so poorly just because you could beat it in 6 hours (6 fucking amazing hours I might add). The trailer looks pretty good so far. Seems to capture the atmosphere and feel of the first game pretty well. Although I'm not quite sure what the whole angel/ghost shit is supposed to be... The effects of "V" maybe? I loved Max Paine. I'm a bit skeptical of this though.

I'm a big fan of Max Pain, but to do a good movie it has to be Noir. Really Noir. Like Brick Noir but with lots of violence.

[/quote] I like that he got the shit kicked out of him. Also I almost felt it was a parody at times. Which I kinda liked, it didn't take itself too seriously. |

Man, all i did my freshman year of college was play max payne over and over again. From the looks of it, they seem to be doing things right, at least the trailer is filled with to the brim of scene recreations of some of the story board cut scenes in the game, and tone reproductions in the lighting/color and the dialog. Hell, they even had a shoot out that ended in a bullet time lunge.
This might be the closest thing we could get to a faithful video game adaptation until there is a Myst adaptation consisting of looking up the final puzzle and skipping to the end. |

I know exactly what you mean but, for me, it tried to tread a line between a serious neo-noir and a comedy rather unsuccessfully. It felt like it should have swung one way or the other. Not to mention that parody-noir is a rather exclusive niche, which happens to house a certain Coen brothers' movie against which anything is going to pale in comparison. |

I've seen videos of the game, never got into it.
But is it just me, or does the movie look atrocious? |
