Yeah, the game just had very generic options to what you can set, not the usual full range of tweaks.

When I played it, I always felt hardcore took away the whole strategy element they had with picking your gun and your perks.  With hardcore all you needed was the M4 with extra ammo.

Also, back when I was still playing I had a lot of fun with my ACOG Barrett/Deagle loadout.  The deagle is a ton of fun once you can aim it.

I'd like to think the maps added some variation to your "Use M4, ???, profit" theory. I liked to switch my gun up depending on where I was. Especially for that one city level, I'd be a complete douche with LMG + wall spray perks and just wreck. OHI I C U ON UAV BEHIND THAT WALL AKDLJKALDJADKKJDAKJDLAKJD. And then I'd get a head shot and people would say I was hacking. I love you internet.
