So I thought of something mind blowing to put on Funbuck's wall but decided to put it here instead where people might appreciate it. Funbuck's posted a video of Modern Warfare 2 where you get to be a terrorist and shoot up innocents. Convo ensued. I gots to thinking you know if they really want to go down this road I got a better idea.

Instead of shooting people up have you start the game as a suicide bomber. You get dropped off somewhere and you can only do 2 things to progress - get caught or blow yourself up. Now how you do directly effects how much of the game you get to play due to public support for war. You get caught then you just get sent into a skirmish because I mean how much can politicians really push a war on we caught some guy. You don't kill anyone but blow yourself up you get a small war to play through. Kill a huge amount of people and that's enough to continue the campaign through two countries. Then have innocents in the campaign proper, the more you kill on accident (or purpose) the harder the difficulty of the game gets until it's basically impossible. Also at the end there is no conclusion you just get sent home for a year until MW3.

I think what they're actually going for with that MW2 segment is similar to the beginning of the first one where you're playing the president of that fictional middle eastern nation getting executed, giving different views on different things. They're actually going where a lot of games haven't gone, and pushing the envelope on what can and can't be put into a game. However, I think one reason why they've kept it under wraps this long (and even then this is a leak, they probably don't want the public to see this before the game comes out) is it might've ended up like Six Days of Fallujah or whatever.

edit: on the dtoid article about this they have a commentary free video of it in French and it has a spinning CIA emblem

I still like my idea better.

Yeah, supposedly you're a CIA double agent who gets caught and the russians kill you at the end of the mission.
But still, you're killing people who are dragging their friends across the floor, or who are injured and lying there bleeding.
it's pretty fucked up for a video game.

Yeah, I'm not gettin the game only because of this..
First of all, yes, you can say Infinity Ward is trying to go where nobody had ever dared to go before. They are trying to show realism as it's finest and it's good for them. But this isn't going to contribute anything to the video game industry. Not all games are going to be more "mature" after this, it'll all keep like now. The only thing i can see IW is trying to do with this one and "leaking" their video (come on, it's obvious as hell it's an intentional leak) is to build more hype by creating controversy. Worked for GTA, right? They showed someone beating a hooker.
I can see IW's office saying "Let's take hooker beating to the extreme by letting people be in the skin of a terrorist".. so far it's working really well, media is going nuts talking about it and people that wasn't even interested in the game before now wants to buy it because
a) They're playing as a terrorist
b) they are thinking with their liberal bullcrap saying "this is the future of real videogames n shit, i must support this"

For me, it's just a lame marketing strategy. Again, the product is for mature audiences, people with a formed character who can distinguis real from fiction, but we all know this will end in the hands of children and oh boy that's where the real shitload of controversy is going to start

we wouldn't have any of the problems with video games being blamed for violence if parents weren't stupid. I ask multiple times at work if the parent wants to buy an M rated game for their 13 year old child when he brings it up to the register and they just go "yeah it's fine." There are a set amount of parents that do come in that won't let their children play anything above their age-rating, my parents were like this, and hell, they still worry that I'm desensitizing myself to violence.

I was about 2 1/2 hours late to work yesterday thanks to the second accident. It was pretty brutal.

Tonight's episode of Law and Order basically consisted of A) accusing the head of american apparel of being a rapist and b) accusing a thinly veiled replica of 4chan of instigating his murder and providing the tools to do so.  Oh, and rob coddry played the leader of the 4chan like episode, so lols all around.

I went to 4chan to see if anyone was upset about their "ripped from the headlines" potrayl, and the first post i saw was some member saying he was going to kill himself followed by 50 replies saying he should.  So yeah, maybe the law and order episode wasn't that sensationalist after all....

but accusing the head of a american apparel like company of engaging in auto-erotic asphyxiation, that's pretty gold.  Man i love law and order.

Edit: Last week had Jim Gaffigan play a Jon gossilin type character who killed his wife so he could be the sole star of a reality show.... law and order must be the best guilty pleasure of all time.
