Oh! I got one to hop us back on a rail:

Anyone on here play chess? I've been wanting to do a few matches, but nobody around here is much of a player.

Karf and I play occasionally. Lemme know if you want to go a game or two.

chrome or firefox and why?

I prefer chrome's look and layout so I use that. People keep telling me to get firefox for the add-ons, specifically adblock but I've always been meh.

Chrome runs faster for me and I used to use Firefox for adblock until I found out that Chrome has adblock too.
Never going back to Firefox.

I use both, because both are good.

Chrome renders the page before the plugins are executed, not the best solution if you are looking to block ads or step-around cross-linked geologging.
Firefox has a much better API.

Does Canada have anti-trust laws to protect the market from monopolies like the US does? question arose because I read this on reddit.

we have the CRTC that pretty much only cares about how much canadian television is shown on tv. its unfortunate but true in most cases

the last paragraph makes little sense, but media is slowly being turned into shit and the old folks just dont get it
EDIT: if you want to learn more this website is pretty good about canadian internet: http://openmedia.ca/

I was more interested in the formation of monopolies and the agreed raising of prices/loss of competition (I forget the vocab word for that). The US is pretty strict against that i.e. the recently blocked at&t-Tmobile merger.

no no, I meant like what's preventing all the gas stations in a town from agreeing to all raise their prices to get big profits.

Well I don't know what the word is to stop it, but the act of fixing prices is sometimes called "colluding" or "collusion".

and If they every one of them spontaneously decided to double their prices would the mounties do something about it?

also is their any chance that brbu will ever have a sports board? football and hockey seem to have decent popularity.
