i HATE MY JOB.

Let me do a little backround about my job. I work at a collecting company, at night, where i must prepare the guys who do the routes the next day. It's mostly check a lot of reciepts/invoices/whatever on a folder and staple them on a pre-designed route to 20+ bikers.  It's usually 200~300 invoices per day, but sometimes i end up with 700. That's not the bad point.

The bad point starts with days like today, the lazy fucktards who work at day in my area, started leaving a lot of invoices. In the beggining we thought we had to do something we call "APL", which is writing the social number of the company + the number of the invoice of each one on an excel. The first day i asked my boss (who isn't more than 2 years older than me) if i could start doing them, since it was kinda obvious the guys at day where just being lazy and leaving the work for us to do (We're not supposed to do this, since APLing is like 70% of what they do). My boss told me "No, let's let them pile it until they realize we won't do it".

Long story short, more than 8000 invoiced appeared today with a memo of our superior (which works at day) that said "We recieved a complaint that you don't do anything at night because you were supposed to do this". My supervisor told us to just give up and to the APL, but he looked at me and told me that i had to do 10 lots of 50, just because i had "more free time". When it came the time to do the APL (after we finished our normal job) 2 coworkers were just browsing the internet and 1 was sleeping, so i said "oh, okay, i don't have to do those 10 since we all had free time". WRONG. The guy who slept did 3, the other one did another 3 and i had to make 13 just because i complained. I asked why and my supervisor said "Because you didn't helped me tonight". Which i answered "But i help you every single day. I had to do 500 routes, i usually have 200. Nicolas has been sleeping since 3AM (it was 5:45AM)". "Yeah, but he helped me".

After that i snapped, not in a bad way, i can't go on my job cursing, but i got really mad and told him hat i'm sick of that elitistic crap he's got with Nicolas. Just because they have more time here doesn't make him have more shortcuts like skipping his work and leaving it to the others, we have the same charge. After that my supervisor just said goodbye and went home, really pissed off. I still had 6 more Lots to go.

This isn't the first time they've fucked me up like that. A couple weeks my Supervisor stayed home, and Nicolas (who i forgot to say he hates me because i told him to not to chat, since we all were forbidden to) stood in charge. That week we were also doing the work of a coworker who was on vacations, so we had a lot of work. Long story short, Nicolas was feeling sleepy, so he told me not only to do my part and my coworker's but his share of the coworker at vacation + half of his. He left at 6:00AM and i had to stay until 4:35PM (we start here at 10PM).

Oh, and i haven't talked about my CW. There's only one who's really open and can mantain a long conversation, but the others.. My supervisor is an egomaniac who thinks everything he does is great and we should admire him for that. Nicolas is a lone Kid, he never shares ANYTHING, but he always pops up at our office asking for soda or food, if we say him no, he'll get really mad. My third coworker is an ex-army men, xhenofobic and shouts racist or xhenofobic comments just because he thinks he's funny. Oh, and just because he was in the army and lived on a more poor part of the city, he thinks he's lived everything and my experiences on the more accommodated part are bullshit because i have no "street life".

I'm seriously start to get a depression here...  I don't know what i'm doing here. I mean, i seriously can do better than this but where? I recently passed the ECCE English test (google it if you don't know what it is) with Honors and even i know knowing languages is crap. I had to drop from School because i got sick of trying to make my Dad happy by studying engineering, so i quit on 3rd year to study something i like. I realized too late that studying English is really lame and most of the things they teach you i already know (luckily for me, the career director was smart enough to point this when she saw my ECCE certificate). The other thing i love, and i've been doing on an independent way since Highschool is Journalism. But Journalism is THE most crowded career on Chile and they pay isn't a lot bigger that what i'm earning here. So.. i don't know what to do with my life. I don't want to be a nobody, and i don't want to stay here.. I really don't know what to do.

That's the problem.. I can't. I've been searching all over the place for something that would give me some profit, but everything i find are jobs wich don't require any title and  pay the minimum. I can't be on a job that pays the minimum since i'm spending at least 3/4 of a minimum wage on transport :/.

Anyway you could do journalism at another company....or another country?

I've been trying to do this for a long time now, no results. Guess they are stuck with the "lol mexicans on miami talking bad english on CNN En Español" stereotype.

I will not pretend to have all the answers vongore, but if you have the opportunity to do what you love (in your case, journalism), and it pays enough to get by, is there really much more to ask for? idk maybe im just lucky and happen to have mostly very inexpensive, accessible hobbies, so i've never found myself short on disposable income, even with a fast food job.

either way, kudos to you for at least standing up for yourself. I hope your situation improves - you've been a genuinely nice person and certainly deserve better than what you've been dealt, but god knows there are literally billions of people on this planet who deserve better.

the best I can say is that it took me about 18 months to find a decent job after finding myself stuck between a rock and a hard place. as time went on i found it harder and harder to stay motivated to find a job. luckily, i have made some really great friends on brb that helped pep-talk me through the hard times. hopefully good old-fashioned patience and some very understanding internet friends will help see you through your rough patch as well. we [brb] are nothing if not a family (even if it is pretty fucking dysfunctional), so if nothing else, you'll always have people here willing to listen
