Basically what I am doing is creating a company logo for our design class. I've still not figured out color schemes or anything, and I'm actually thinking about keeping it B&W dominant for contrast purposes.

The idea is to come up with a polished company signature (basically a tagline+logo+name) that is effective/practical as a logo at any size and also is visually appealing. My company is called "Zionics" and is a Robotic Security Contractor (basically - contract robots to defend your shit).

I've narrowed it down to the following design style, per suggestion from the instructor's critique of other directions I experimented with, and critque from other people in general. We have to come up with 5 variations of this "final signature" that are essentially completed logo's.

This is what I have:



What I need to do now is narrow it down to just 1, or if you guys all think all of the above completely suck then some helpful critique would be nice to have as well.

So which one do you guys like the most?

Any suggestions/critques? Remember these are supposed to be final, so even if it's "the kerning on your tagline is 1pt too close, space it out just slightly", then that is valid critique in my eyes. On that note I'm not looking at completely redesigning since at this stage that isn't practical but I can certainly look into things if it's a unanimous "these suck"

I see options three and four as the least successful of the group. The extra lines on option three don't balance out the design, frame the logo, or lead your eyes to the name of the brand; rather, they seem to distract and complicate an already busy design. If you were to remove the lines altogether, I think it would look better than design two though, since I prefer the first letter of the name to be emphasized over the rest of the name. My concerns design four are the "Z," "C" (is that a stylized C or a stylized G?), and the oversized slogan. Design five seems the most novel out of the bunch, though I would like to see the second line of the slogan shifted a little to the left to follow the line of the pentagon, rather than drop down directly below the "O."

I like 5 but I am having trouble thinking of ways to make the tagline work better with it.

If I did what you said then it would end up a lot like 4, where the tagline's beginning is confusing to make out (because we read left to right first and foremost and at the same time top to bottom. Having it be like that would make the tagline's start be confusing at a glance).

Alternatively, make a electronics board out of the O and ditch the pentagon. (those dots on those i's are begging to be turned into diodes, too).

I actually tried that haha.

It ended up making the company name rather hard to read so I opted instead to simplify all the letters except one of them (in the case here, it's the S at the end).
