There's a running joke between Valve and we admins on the HLDS mailing list, it involves the localization files.
One patch it was "Undocumented changes: Updated all localization files" Another it was "Didn't update the localization files" |

We've released a mandatory update to Team Fortress 2. The notes for the update are below.
-Eric ------------------------------ Source Engine Changes (TF2, DoD:S, HL2M) - Fixed a client crash related to dynamic model loading - Fixed dedicated server not receiving restart requests when updates are released Team Fortress 2 - Fixed playing incorrect sounds for The Overdose - Fixed a broken Engineer animation for The Pomson 6000 - Fixed Steam inventory/trading not showing the correct item level for some items - Fixed Steam inventory/trading sort order not matching the in-game backpack - Fixed the new styles for The Brown Bomber not using team colors - Fixed some clipping issues with the Warrior's Spirit - Updated pl_hoodoo_final  - Removed door frame collision to resolve bots getting stuck in the cave during stage 2 |

Well, something changed in between the last time I played TF2 on my netbook and now. A month ago, I was able to play on med-high settings from my netbook at windowed at 1600x1050 resolution on a 1080p monitor with no FPS issues whatsoever (~30 in action). So I try playing today (at 720p native resolution) and the FPS is hanging around 10. I have not changed drivers or anything like that since I last played.
What the hell happened and what can I do to fix it? |

It seems that whatever Valve updated did not mesh well with the newer set of graphics drivers. |

I randomly tried uploading new sprays and found that I could actually upload them to tf2 without having to resort to witchcraft

I can't help but feel sorry for Didzo for what dirty ol' Valve did to the heavy. It must suck now that you can't instantly recover more HP than four classes start out with on a moment's notice. I'd be devastated if I couldn't shrug off 150 points of damage on command because my dedicated pocket medic isn't around for a few seconds.
