We looked outside and found a mom cat and 4 kittens on our porch. They ran off we thought and then we went to investigate. Our utility closet was open and it was hot as balls in there so I figured we should check it for kittens since it was a bad place for them to be. I didn't find any but we went ahead and decided to finally clean all the junk out of it and clean our porch. Four kittens ended up running out in the process, they were super well hidden. At this point I had checked everywhere and four was the number we had seen earlier so I shut the door. The problem is the kittens and the mom ran off separately, and now we don't know if they found each other or where to find them. I plan to call our vet that helps run operation catnip but without being able to find them it would be of little use.

I'm honestly wondering if I should open the closet back up I just think it's a dangerous place for them to live, it's not just the heat there are a lot of heavy things and tools in there too as well as chemicals for cleaning my car and lubricants and whatnots.

I will bet you that mom cat found her kittens and dragged them off somewhere else, but probably not too far. If there is anywhere outside or around the house that has a little hole she can get into with them, she'll be there. It's going to be hard as hell to find them, though, if the cat doesn't really know you because she won't come when you call.

What I would do is leave something out on the steps for them if you're comfortable with that, some milk or something with lots of protein. She'll need it if she's nursing four kittens, anything that she can eat for lots of energy.

Mom cat is super feral, won't let anyone near her. But one of the neighbors is feeding her. My whole row is all cat people and at the other end of our complex is all dog people. Don't ask me how that worked out b

Well, as long as there is some food out there for her, that's good. Gives the kittens a fighting chance at survival, because the mother needs a ton of nutrients when she has kittens. Without that, you get runty babies that often don't survive.

She's probably found some place nearby that is hard to get to, they like to be covered in cave-like places when they have babies, like dens.
