no I don't think you got phished, but I do think you're dumb for misunderstanding what I think I presented very clearly. Assuming they hacked your steam password and not your email password, well none of this would have ever happened. If they hacked your email though, well :\

I didn't Beni :|. Anything I download on Steam is from the Valve store within Steam. The only guess I have is the demo of Mini Ninjas that I started the download off the Steam site, as opposed to within the Steam browser. I know not to ever trust "CLICK HEER FOR FREE GAME" things.

Brain/book. Saving passwords on your PC is asking for an eventual breach.

Password generation is fun. I love taking random things/books/flyers and picking random words printed on them, mixing case, adding in number and characters.

It's a HELL of a lot better than the way I've been doing it...being dumb and using the same password everywhere :3. Which is part of why I'm surprised nothing else got messed with. No security lecture needed there, it was dumb, I know. Everything important has been changed now.

Anyways. Updates. Got a reply, needed confirmation. Gave them paypal transaction ids. My account is locked now, til they go through the numbers and verify.

I recommend seriously making a password like mine and writing it down.  16 characters alphanumeric with upper and lowercase and special characters.  Sure, it could be brute forced, but not easily.

use phone numbers to index into the periodic table, it's really good

I'm using 20 characters normally :3. With brackets, minus, and underscores too. My bank and LJ ones are as long as I can make em...32 and 30 characters respectively.
