On linear maps like Dustbowl, I prefer attacking, so most of the time I choose blue.

Anything else I just hit the random button.

I think their tracking on arena is messed up.

Other than that, the rest is actual balance, such as goldrush. CTF and linear CP (Well/Granary) maps should always be close to 50/50 with some margin of error.

It's all psychological.  Look at 2Fort.  The two sides are exact carbon copies of each other, yet red wins more.
