Saved 471 dollars. Laptop was under $1000. Probably overkill, but fuck it. I'll take this thing everywhere and my school has power outlets fucking everywhere. Even on benches and lightposts. Now to work on headphones. So, I'm probably going to go with Duck's suggestion of the Sennheiser 280 PRO. They seem pretty good at everything. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...er%20hd280 Objections? Feeling generous? Though I'm already in my third year at college and I've been using a first generation EEE PC which is uncomfortable to say the least, I'm 99% sure I'll be picking this up soon:
http://www.brbuninstalling.com/forum/ind...pic=5716.0 It's basically a netbook and tablet in one. I wouldn't reccomend it if: 1. You plan to PC game on it. They have tons of great casual games or simple games, but PC gaming in the windows sense is a no-go. 2. You really strongly need the full MS office suite. That thing includes an office program (including a spreadsheet program that does all the math/scripting stuff) but if you need all the features and do-dads of full MS office, then go for a standard netbook/laptop instead. 3. Your program involves you working on Windows-specific programs outside of class, and you'd really strongly prefer to do such work on a laptop vs your desktop. I honestly don't see how you could get much better than the above at doing standard netbook and tablet stuff though, which is music + movies + light games + word processing + PDF's or e-textbooks (HUGE saver in cash if they have your book) + internet WITH flash + etc. The super long battery life and the fact that if you just want to relax you can use it as a tablet are bonuses to me. Granted it doesn't run windows, but a custom EEE PC version of Android, but it has everything you'd expect a basic netbook to have and then more. Price is about the same price as current-gen netbooks too - $499 for the dock combo (good luck finding that though), otherwise $550 if you get the tablet and keyboard dock seperate.

Jumping on the train here. Parents want me to get a laptop for college, so I'm looking into anything that at the very least has a graphics card, possibly for light gaming or minor video editing or touch-ups. So far I've found two I'd like BRB's opinion on
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6834230089 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6834115990 I'm leaning towards the ASUS, but the ACER's resolution and screen is bigger. also I'm tired and might not make sense. |
